Description
As of 5/24/25 Wasatch Brewery beers will no longer be brewed in Utah. They will be brewed in the Monster Brewing network.

“Where’s the beer? Where are the breweries?” Those were among the first thoughts Greg Schirf had after moving to Utah from Milwaukee in the early 80’s. Incredibly, drinking and brewing were all but forbidden. Greg took matters into his own hands and did what any self-respecting midwesterner would do: He started a brewery. Wasatch was the very first brewery in Utah – and one of the first craft brewers in all of the U.S. – brewing award-winning brews since 1986.

In 1988, Greg Schirf proposed another bill to the Utah Legislature making brewpubs legal in Utah and opened the first brewpub at the top of historic Main Street in the resort town of Park City. Wasatch continues to misbehave, turning out naughty beer after naughty beer year after year.

Bottle: Pours a light amber color with an ample sandy head. Lots of sticky lacing. Nose is sweet, caramel and citrus with light florals. Tastes bold with citrus hops, caramel, and again, light florals. Lingering bitters in the tail. Very well balanced, smooth, and just plain enjoyable.

Growler courtesy of douglas88. Pours deep murky copper with some modest opacity and thin tan head. The aroma is dark fruitiness and nuttiness kind of blending together. The taste begins with somewhat tart cranberry moving into richer cherry, dark grapes, some tangelo and then solid nuttiness. Easy drinking stuff.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a tan head and a brown body. Aroma of raisins, chamomile tea and honey. Must have been a old bottle as there were not a large amount of hops...at all. Taste was sweet with caramel and a bit tea like. Medium bubbles.

courtesy of wasatch pours light brown, frothy beige head. Aroma is hoppy, caramel malts, with nice light roast. Flavor, same as aroma, profile leans toward a good roasted malts, chocolate and some spices, grainy and bready mouthfeeel. Finish with light hops, some chocolate. Tasty.

Courtesy of douglas88. 12oz bottle pours clear gold with short lived white head. The modest aroma exudes raspberry and maybe a distant echo of wheat. The taste is much the same beginning with a slight sharp carbonation enhanced raspberry tartness. It quickly becomes sweet with a sensation of raspberry extract and notes of wheat. It ends with a sticky wheat sort of coating inside my mouth.

Draft. Hazy deep gold body with a nice white head. Light aroma of banana and clove with a hint of lemon. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately tart with a slight off taste brought on by too much tartness. Medium body, smooth texture and soft carbonation. OK.

12 oz bottle. Halfway decent porter. The most special thing about this beer is the label. Smells like wheat bread gone bad. Seems to get less interesting as it warms. No detectable aftertaste. Doesn’t leave much of an impression. By the time I finished it, I thought it was the worst porter I’d ever had. Started decent, ended poorly.

Bottle pours a crystal clear deep amber with a small quick fizzy tan IPA. Brown sugar woody carmel aroma with a touch of apple butter. Flavor is a bit thin. Woody here as well, and fairly sweet. ore light smokey brown sugar. and maple syrup. Not Aunt Jemimah, I’m talking the real stuff from Vermont. A touch of coffee and lots of lightly toasted malts Plenty of sweetness, but feels like it has fermented down pretty far. Decent.
