Bottle thanks to my friend Jamie: Poured a murky orange brown with a light head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt. Taste is a mix of caramel/roasted malts, light smoke, hops and very drinkable. The alcohol is well hidden and makes it feel light for a Scotch Ale.

Bottle shared by someone at freetail release. Pours a clear deep amber with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of bread and grain, slightly sweet with hint of toast. Flavor starts full of bread with sweet grains and toffee, mellows in the finish. Minimal carbonation.

On tap at Christo’s Palace, Seward. Deep opaque brown/black body, thin clumping light brown head. Dry, dusty body with cocoal puffs and coffee and sweet berry notes as the beer warms. Woody.

On tap at Christo’s Palace, Seward. Ruddy orange-red-brown body, thin tight beige head. Toasty aroma with notes of caramel and diacetyl. Classic brown ale flavors of caramel, toast, and berries, both sweet and dry, and tangy. However, the diacetyl notes limit the beer’s appeal.

Deep rich copper coloured body with a thick, dense off-white head and a nice ruby rich coloured tint. Arom a of fresh hops, metal, malt, flowers and pine - strong. Medium-bodied; Strong floral hop flavours with a lot of caramel, some nice malty and pine tastes with a fresh metallic bite. Aftertaste shows a lot of floral and grassy hop characters with some caramel, metal, malt and alcohol tastes - very nice and complex, deep for an IPA and much more malty than most. Overall, a nice take on an IPA showing some strong floral notes and good character. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Brown Jug in Anchorage (Old Seward), Alaska on 18-June-2011 sampled in our cabin in Denali, Alaska on 20-June-2011.
