Very fresh growler from the brewery. Pours a slightly hazy bronze color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Fresh hop aroma with lots of pineapple, citrus and stone fruits. There is a fair amount of caramel malts in there as well. Taste is predominantly rye with citrus and resiny hop notes. Light bitter chocolate notes. Dry and bitter. Medium bodied. A very subtle cheesy/soapy note. One of the better brews they’ve come out with lately.

Served on nitro tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy brown color with a large tan head. Aroma is nutty caramel with a weird olive like note in the finish. Taste is toasted malts, caramel, bitter minty hops. Medium bodied.

Served on nitrogen at the brewpub. Pours a very dark brown color appearing black in the glass. Large tan head with lacing and retention appropriate for nitrogen. Aroma is acrid roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and soda water. The nitro gives this the odd distinction of being both full bodied and watery.

Served on cask at the brewery. Pours a clear ruby tinted brown color with a thin head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma is raspberry, toffee, toasted malts and banana. Taste is dry and tart raspberry with faint grains and banana. Very thin and very flat... like a dry raspberry juice. Cask is absolutely not the best choice for this one.

Light amber coloured body with a thin off-white head. Aroma of fresh hops, a bit of malt and some toffee. Medium-bodied; Strong astringent malt tucked in with some nice fresh hops. Aftertaste shows little with malt being the strongest. Overall, a decent beer - definitely worth trying at the festival! I sampled this six ounce sample from pseudo-draught at the Old Dominion 2005 Beer Festival on 24-June-2005 in Ashburn, Virginia.

On tap at the brewpub on 01/17/2009 as Notre Diva Favorite. Clear reddish brown body with a small tan head. Very sweet raisin, molassas, caramel and belgian spice aroma. Sweet raisin, rum-soaked fruit, cherry and belgian spice flavor. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.

On tap from a sampler at the brewpub on 11/21/2008. Clear golden amber body wtih a small off-white head. Sweet corn and honey aroma. Sweet corn, honey, and toasty notes in the flavor. Medium light body wtih moderately high carbonation.
