A hazed golden saison with a thick luscious white head. In aroma, a smooth grassy malt with light lactic and herbal notes. In mouth, a light smooth saison with grassy herbal malt, smooth and lightly lactic, not bad. On tap at Bieres et Saveur, Sept.3 2011.

Bottle at Churchkey. Clear deep amber color, fine beige head. Aroma of acetone which clears, then ruby port. Taste is sweet prunes and light spice. Nice.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty beige color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of tart and sour notes with light acidic notes is quite powerful. Taste is also a complex mix between some tart and sour notes with some light barnyard notes with a lightly acidic edge and some peppery yeast notes. Dry hops notes are also easily discernable. Body is quite full for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Complex while still being drinkable – doesn’t quite meet my expectation but I might have been expecting quite a lot.

Originally rated October 2006 at the brewpub. Pours a very dark colour with red highlights and a tanned head that has decent retention and lace. Aromas are very mild with some caramel malt and candy. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. No burn, just the taste of coffee and roasted malt with some light bitterness. Very close to their Sang-d’encre brew, but less watery, with a thicker mouthfeel and a dose more of alcohol. Great stuff.

Originally rated October 2006 at the brewpub. Pours a clean copper colour with good lacing. Nice hoppy nose with some caramel and spices. Starts off nice and fruity, then the bitterness kicks in and lingers into the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is creamy and sticky. Great IPA with 77 IBU and awesome for session.

Originally rated October 2006 at the brewpub. Pours a clean caramel-amber colour with light carbonation, a good head with above-average retention and lacing. Aromas of hop, but not too crazy, and with hints of a fruity parfume. The texture is grainy. Wow ! Delicious mix of coffee (roasted malt) and bitterness. The hop seems perfect for this one. Very clean aftertaste. Great tasting bitter, which I find is the brewery’s best.

Originally rated October 2006 at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown colour with red highlights, decent retention and a ring of lace. The nose is mild with coffee, molasse and hints of candy. Flavours of roasted malt with notes of coffee and a nice bitter finish. A more-than-average watery stout, that is good tasting and not too heavy.

Originally rated October 2006 at the brewpub (when La Pitoune was a lager - now it is called La Pitoune Ale). Pours a clean golden colour with very little carbonation, and a small head with hardly any lacing. Big cereal nose and mouthfeel is clean. The grain and cereal are present in the taste and there is not much bitterness. Good micro lager, but missing a bit of saaz hop to be a German-type lager.

Originally rated October 2006 at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy golden-beige colour with a bit of lacing and light carbonation. Citrus nose with Belgian white yeast and notes of spices. Very refreshing mouthfeel. Orange is present all the way through and good grainy malt (or wheat) finish. Not much spices in the taste. Pretty good witbier with a more pronounced wheat taste to it.

Originally rated October 2006 at the pub. Pours a golden-blonde colour with very good lacing. Same big cereal nose found in their Pitoune brew. Has a grainy mouthfeel. The cereal and grain malt is also present in the taste with a bitter middle, a fruity finish and a grainy aftertaste. Recommended Oktoberfest.
