Description
Old Bust Head Brewing Company is an independent, solar-powered microbrewery in Fauquier County, VA west of DC. Our experience brewing traditional ales & lagers has helped us win awards in styles classic and creative. With beautiful views of slate roofed barns and refurbished campus-like brick buildings, Old Bust Head is part of a unique farm called ‘Vint Hill’ that for 50 years operated as a top secret military listening post. Familiar faces behind the bar share their love of craft in our 1950’s post & beam taproom while covered outdoor seating between our taproom and production area provides a welcoming environment for leashed dogs and all-weather access to a rotating variety of food trucks.

Keg at the brewery, 6/10/15. Clear golden, medium sized creamy off-white head, decent retention. Aroma of doughy malt, bread, mild yeast, bubblegum. The taste is stone fruit, cherries, spice, yeast, pale malt, nuts. Thin bodied, well balanced, refreshing.

Keg at Spacebar, 4/6/15. Clear copper, thin fizzy white head, decent retention. Aroma of doughy malt, floral and earthy hops. The taste is snappy citrus and earthy hops, caramel malt. Thin-medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.

Keg at Whole Foods Market Charlottesville, 4/2/15. Clear copper, thin creamy tan head. Good retention. Aroma of caramel, raisin, tart fruits. The taste is caramel, toffee, minty hops. Thin-medium bodied.

Nice stuff. Lots of fresh citrus hops here with great malt backbone. Old Bust Head continues to make solid, well balanced beers. Pours cloudy copper with great foamy head and lacing. Medium bitter finish with some citrus tang. Thick consistency. Great stuff. Bottle from total wine.

4 oz pour on draft at Spacebar. Clear champagne yellow with off-white head. Aromas of wheat and corn. Tastes of malt, wheat, corn. Light body with a dry finish. Standard wheat lager.

Draft at the brewery. Poured a very pale, clear yellow color with a small foamy white head. Aroma was lots of sweet malts, some light juicy hops, touch of grassy notes. Interesting. Very light, still retains enough flavor at 3.9%, so not too shabby.

Draft at the brewery. Poured a slightly murky golden color with a small off-white head. Aroma was light, sweet malts, grain, with some very mild funky yeast notes. Flavor was about the same, straw notes, some funky yeast notes. A bit weak, which is unfortunate. It reminds me too much of a homebrewed saison I’ve made. Not bad at all, but missing something (more funk needed I think).

Draft at the brewery. Poured a very dark black color with a wispy tan head. Aroma is notes of roasted malts, some earthy hops, some light chocolates. Flavor is notes of malts, roasted malts, bitter chocolate. Resin. Creamy notes. Pretty tasty.

Draft at the brewery. Poured a clear golden orange color with a small off-white head. Aroma was juicy hops, lots of citrus. Flavor was nice malt notes, with some bitterness, citrus juicy notes. Light floral finish. Pretty tasty!
