Bottle shared by tfontana. Aroma of soft chocolate, weak rye, spice. Flavor is the same with a soft mild spice finish. No alcohol finish, which is pleasant. But fuck the milk stouts! Thank the god Lord TJ saw this style. I could be dead in three hours!!!

2021 500mL bottle shared by tfontana on 1/11/25. Dark mahogany with garnet highlights. Bubbly tan head, small. Clear. Prune, raisin, licorice, light lactose. Some dark ash. Lightly spicy but not too much. Dark chocolate, strong spice, black pepper, no alcohol and good balance. A bit pruney. Soft, malty, creamy, a bit roasty and full of dark chocolate. Not too much barrel. A bit of floral, rye, nutty and balancing spice. It's very balanced, not alcoholic and there's no lactose character, thankfully.

2021 500mL bottle shared by tfontana on 1/11/25.
Clear dark mahogany with ruby highlights. Small, tan head to ring.
A mix of the 2022 BT and 2023 KC with the bourbon element light, and the dark fruit moderate, but maybe a bit too strong. Less alcohol and/or spice with a good mellowness.
In the mouth it's rich, malty, sweet, spicy, balanced and with ample, but well-attenuated malt. Juicy dark fruits, maybe a touch of lead. Definitely get the age on it in its mellowness with soft, chocolatey, not fudgey or syrupy textures and no alcohol. Really nice rye spice and lingering dark fruit and heavy black pepper.

Bottle pour from the brewery. Opaque dark brown, nice viscosity, trace lacing. Aroma is lightly peaty malt, rye spice, roasted malt. Taste is strong mix of roasted/peaty malt, dark fruit, milder vanilla and rye/bourbon. Smooth texture, soft carbonation, finish as taste w/out signs of alcohol.

2023 500mL bottle shared by tfontana on 1/11/25.
Dark mahogany, undetermined clarity. Deep garnet highlights. Tan ring of bubbles.
Wow, that smells a lot better than the 2022 Buff Trace. No big prune/raisin/plum. Soft chocolate and mildly spicy bourbon with rich caramel malt and hints of warming. Light vanilla, light wood. Quite nicely-balanced.
Soft, malty, nicely-attenuated, still getting that warming, but there's fudge, caramel, vanilla, raisin and rich, spicy, strong bourbon. Sweet, but attenuated, not syrupy, not too alcoholic. Mellow and flavorful.

Bottle pour from the brewery. Opaque dark brown, nice viscosity, trace lacing. Strong, peaty malt, oak, dark fruit, mild bourbon and peppercorn. Taste is peaty malt (less strong than aroma and mellows as it warms), oak, caramel, bourbon. Smooth, velvety texture, mild alcohol warmth. Good but not as phenomenal as some of the other barrels.

500mL bottled 2022, shared by tfontana on 1/11/25.
Clear dark mahogany with deep auburn tints. Burnt-tan head quickly to ring.
Prune, licorice, black pepper, very spicy with a bit of char and ash. Some light warming. But it's got juicy oak, light caramel, moderate vanilla and does give a pretty good Buff Trace impression. Just seems a bit too heavy on the dark fruit. Lingering alcohol is a bit odd given its age.
Soft, sweet, malty, rich, with spicy buff trace, vanilla, heavy oak and strong black pepper. There's somewhat strong alcohol on the finish, which is really the only detractor here. Otherwise, lovely texture, rich malts, good attenuation and a big oak character. The Buff Trace is well-represented. Just a touch too alcoholic still.
