12oz can. Pretty nice lager. Balanced, clean, well brewed. Doesn't really lean into the German Malts that much so sort of lame to call it a Helles. Really clean and easy drinking.

This brew is a clear straw-gold color with a medium thin white head that burns away quickly. Spotty lace. Malt, grassy hops and fruit in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of mildly bitter grassy hops, roast malt and fruit. The finish is clean and malty with a touch of hops in the aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Bomber pours with a dark brown sort of milk chocolate colored body that supports a nice tan head of foam. The aroma offers up roasted malts, mineral kinda maltiness, a sense of barrel oakiness and then a firm blend of booze and bourbon. Smells pretty nice. The taste delivers chocolate malts, roasted malts and then smooth yet nuanced bourbon notes. The experience mingles left and right and slides into the finish with a moderate level of booziness, chocolate, a bit of roasted malts and lingering bourbon. Pretty damn solid.

12 oz can from Costco. Pours a crystal clear gold color with a small off-white head and decent retention. Light spotty lacing. Faint pale malts and light bread aroma. Crisp and clean light pale lager flavor. Slightly sweet. Light bitterness. Super easy drinking. Very repeatable. Pedestrian, but well made. Good beer at a good price. Light body. Medium-light carbonation.

Rewind: I came down a little bit hard on this beer, because the packaging was a one for one replication of a Fuller's Vintage Ale, which is an old ale. I see now that it's an imperial stout, but shame on Costco and Deschutes for trying to package it as a Fuller's equivalent. This will improve my score somewhat, but I still feel a bit deceived.f Bomber from Costco. Dark brown pour, ring of beige head. Sweet aroma, pit fruit, prunes, shoe polish. Taste is sweet, prunes, dark cherries followed by a hefty burn. Kind of harsh. Now I see that this supposed to be an imperial stout rather than an old ale, I like it even less. A royal mess.

Notes from June 2010 This particular sample case has been contract brewed up in Utica with 400 other recipes. Costco usually just rebrands things(albeit, quality name brands) so I'm wondering if anyone can guess what this stuff is yet. Best by June 28 2010 Poured into a Carlsberg Pilsener glass. Generic honey amber color. Just a bit milky, so I probably disturbed the sediment some. The yeast falls out pretty quickly though. Thin eggshell white head, but not much of it. There's too much wasted space up top, so I cap the glass off with 4-5 more ounces. :) Smell is white bread, honey, subtle white pepper, & just a touch of citric acid. Shy, leafy hops. Boring & stale. Taste has more going for it. Little bit of coriander, little bit of caraway, lots of starchy husks & hulls. Grainy. Grassy hops. No real pungent phenols like banana or clove that I'd associate with Hefes. No aftertaste besides a little glass. Carbonation is almost right on, but is still a little thin & irritating like a force-carbed draught beer, & doesn't deliver that creamy feel I was expecting. A bland American Hefeweizen without the hop bite. That is what this is. I drank two without flinching though, so it's not terrible. If CostCo can get stock it for a bit less(I think it was $21/cs), then maybe I'll give it another shot.
