Description
Oxbow is a small farmhouse brewery located in rural Newcastle, Maine. The brewery is nestled in an enchanted forest amongst rolling farmlands and winding tidal rivers, of which the ebb and flow provide a constant reminder that the coast is near.
The name Oxbow is inspired by the bends in these rivers, the Dyer in particular, which features stunning horseshoe-shaped oxbows where the river covers tremendous ground to travel what could otherwise be a very short linear distance. We employ a similar approach when crafting our beers, taking months or years to create a beverage that is commonly produced in a matter of days.

50cl bottle pours orange with some light haze and a finger of white head. Nose is bright, stone fruits, natural wine, mango rings, orange. Blood orange is very identifiable in the mouth along with the mango and light grist. Tart and bright, good minerality too. Really well balanced.

On tap at Elizabeth Station, pours a hazy amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma has some glue, perfumey notes, and some sort of wild yeast. Flavour is quite acetonic, with plenty of balsamic, glue, red wine barrels, and some tannins. A bit harsh but there’s some nice elements from the red wine buried beneath the harsher qualities.

Bottle shared at the June DCBeer share. Poured a hazy golden-orange color. Flavor was big with notes of oak, citrus, bretty funk, honey, and whole leaf hops. Bright and complex with a pleasantly rustic edge.
