This is an American style ipa, not and English ipa. This isn’t a good example of American ipa, but it has no English characteristics at all. Pine resins and light citrus. Some toffee, aromas, and bready malts. Mediocre at best.

Slightly hazy copper pour, with a large off white head, and some nice lacing. Hints of citrus and pine are hard to find amongst the gigantic malt bill. Huge amounts of caramel and toffee/fruit soaked chewy malts. Mouthfeel is oily, carb is good though. The finish is incredibly bitter, and some candied citric hop notes come through in the end. Reminds me of craft beer double ipas from 10 years ago.

Red pour,mwith a tiny beige head. A malt forward aroma,mbig bready notes, and some strong cherry, and fruity aromas. Slight booze, huge fruity esters, medium bitterness with a warm, alcoholic finish with alot of bready, sweet, malts with hints of toffee. This is a true sipper.

Can. Black pour, small mocha head. Aroma is nice and roasty, good amounts of coffee, and cocoa powder, with some soft fruity esters also. Body is a tad thin, carb is good. Finish is solid, more dark roastiness, and some subtle hopping. Not as robust as expected, and a little thin, but otherwise good.

Enjoyed this one first, over 18 years ago at the brewpub on tap. Now, having in a can. A slight haze, amber colour, a nitro-creamy warm-beige head, good retention and creamy lacing. Some sweet malts in the nose with a caramel touch and a tad fruitiness. A smooth, creamy mouthfeel. The taste is decent for 4% ABV, still packing a punch for a Nitro Irish Cream Ale.

Amber-brown colour, thin head. Some toffee and a hint of fruity esters. Light body with a vague malt accent. Decent, because there’s enough hop balance, though it seems muted, like it left a little malt richness on the table.

Biscuit alike malt and some caramel aroma. Similar taste of caramelised malt, medium bitterness, with hints of toasted bread and nuts.

Fruity aroma with good amount of hops. Taste is on grass, bitterness, slightly fruity, and a dry finish.

Whew. What to say about this? This can was given to me by my FIL who attended the Bagotville International Airshow in 2024. No other info for this beer, but I wonder if it's not just rebranding of La Voie Maltée La Libertine Ultra (not listed here on RB, or sampled by me). Pours a clear blonde, large-bubble nearly clear head that dissappears instantly. Fat bubble carbonation. Nose is dry hay malt, touch of syrupy sweetness. Taste is all hay malt, thinner, but not as thin as I was expecting. Fairly dry, and with a bitterness that lingers into the finish. It's an ultra light. The challenge is to pack in as much flavour as you can with as little as you can. Think they've done this, still doesn't make it a great beer, but they've done a good job. A higher rating just for that.
