(Bottle) Black colour with brief, frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted, vinous nose with notes of oak wood, bourbon, black bread, butterscotch, dried figs, chocolate truffles and apricot marmalade. Malty, roasted, vinous taste with black bread, sweet liquorice, oak wood, bourbon, vanilla, dried figs, black coffee and a sweetish, vinous finish with a balanced cacao bitterness. Full body, sweet. Sweet, complex and powerful with lots of liquorice and bourbon. Very nice.

An amber beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has grapefruit, caramel, pine. Taste has caramel, pine, resin, nicely strong bitterness. Medium+ bodied. Nice old-style DIPA. Great beer.

The 12 oz can I have came from the main beer shop in town, rather pricey for this sized can. Time to see if it was worth it. I used to see new Clown Shoes all the time, I think I have rated more of their beers than any other brewery. But that was back then, I have not seen a new, interesting offering in quite a while. I have a snifter from my favorite brewery in Austin to sample the beer with so time to make the pour. A rich nose with wood, grain and some booziness. The drink, well, it is pretty much all right in a style I like a lot. A bit of chocolate, a contribution from the barrels, more rum than bourbon, imo, dark bread, malt and syrup. Not one of their best but the best I can remember having from Clown Shoes in some time.
