Description
Diamond Bear Brewing Company was founded in 2000 by Russ and Sue Melton with the mission of providing Arkansas and the region with a beer of their own. Diamond Bear was Little Rock’s first production brewery in 15 years. The name "Diamond Bear" comes from the first two nicknames for Arkansas. Initially, Arkansas was called "the Bear State." But in 1905 when diamonds were discovered in Arkansas, it was changed to "the Diamond State."

12 ounce bottle courtesy of jackl. Thanks! Pours a clear copper with a thin off-white head. Aroma of citrus, herbal hops and caramel malt. The taste is bitter resin, citrus, tropical hops and caramel malt. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness, a little boring, but solid.

Draft at the source, new location. Hazy golden amber color, fluffy white head, lacey lacing (what else would the lacing look like? but that’s what my notes say, so it must have meant something to me at the time). Aroma of fruity pine. Taste has pine resin and bitter fruit. Nice body. Solid.

Bottle: Pours a reddish orange with a thin beige head. Nose is slightly sweet and almost fruity, maybe berries?, and kind of earthy. First sip suggests moon shine was mixed in… what? An odd taste that I associate with jet fuel. Some caramel and more berries, doughy. Maybe the yeast was off… I just don’t like this at all.
