Description
Founded in 1988, Brasserie Fantôme has gained international attention and a cult following among lovers of craft beers. Owned and run by Dany Prignon, Fantôme is known for its unique variations on the Saison style of farmhouse ale, often involving the use of herbs, spices or fruit juice. Within the craft beer community, Fantome saisons are considered highly desirable and have developed a significant audience in the United States and United Kingdom. Ironically, while their complex, earthy, and herbal flavors have caused them to be sought out by connoisseurs outside of Belgium, Fantôme's products are difficult to find and not well known in the country of their origin.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a thin head. Aromas of phenolic funky lemon with a bit of a peppery edge. Flavor is grain, lemon, pepper, a bit of a medicinal edge... Decent and interesting.

Cloudy brown with a quickly dissipating head. Off aromas of bandage. Sweet with an unpleasant medicinal bitterness. One of the worst beers we’ve had in a while.

Bottle. RAD Beer online. You know you’re in trouble when a Fantome opens without a pop. Vinegary dogshit. Went down the sink. Not the only producer lately where I’ve chucked beer away. What’s going on?

Mycket gott

750ml bottle. Really nice montrous white head on top of a transparent tan body. Big yeast tone, sort of starts off with a little plastic, rubbery odd undertones. Big coriander, wheat. Awesome body. Sort of like a Wit, but all the spices are amplified, and there is a lot more rustic farmhouse overtones. Mustard, dill. Dry. Good.

Bottle. RAD Beer, I think. Hazed orange gold. Thick rocky whipped egg white swede. Nose has unmistakable Fantome yeast. Earthy woody pear. The kind you might expect to have rough skin. Like the pear equivalent of a Russet apple. I’m probably well wrong. Anyway. Whiff of bergamot. Taste has a toffee sweetness with herbal floral spicy bitterness. Good body with soft rolling carbonation. Spicy finish. Nice one. Always a treat to land on a Fantome.

Huge, white whipped eggwhite-like head over veiled, well-carbonated orangey golden beer. Very spicy, peppery, and very yeasty. Bit fiery MF, white breadcrust, faint white candi sugar. Again a bit of pepper and other spices, other grain flour. Light body, very carbonated, slick to viscous. Fantôme seems to have acquired a house yeast, imposing itself on every beer. As to the diacritic signs, I'm sure they mean something, but it's beyond my comprehension. Txs to Stef!

Over 20 people have checked in this beer but no one has actually said anything about it. It's as the name implies: kinda a Belgian blonde, kinda a Biere de Mars. Bright, lots of cereal and fresh hops, very pleasant if a bit one-noted. One of the simpler

Bottle @ Patricks. Unclear deep golden body under a big, nice off-white head. Aroma has a nice ripe fruitiness, malt, toffee, spices and cellar notes. Taste is sweet malt, spices, liquorices, spicy yeast, nice bitterness and ends up quite dry. Another original take on the Saison, quite nice result actually. Still not the best Fantome.

Bottle @ Patricks. Unclear deep golden body under a lacing white head. Spicy yeast aroma, dark malt, toffee and slightly funky. Taste is sweet malt, mild funk, harmonic spicy yeast and a floral touch. Far from the best Fantome but unusually and fun take on the saison style.
