Bottle courtesy of dkachur on 08/01/2009. Clear dark amber / brown body with a small frothy off-white head. Big butter, nut, and gingerbread cookie aroma. Dry malt flavor with some nuttiness. Medium body with moderately low carbonation.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Downtown on 07/03/2009. Clear amber body with a small off-white head. Bourbon and faint hop aroma. Oak and faint hop flavor, somewhat thin. Kinda a mish-mash of flavor really. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

22 ounce bottle from Wine & Beer Westpark. Pours a hazy reddish brown color with a thin head. Aroma is big spices including ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon along with a little butterscotch and caramel. Taste is butterscotch with mild spiced and a faintly tart note. Medium bodied.

Draft sample at Capital Ale House downtown. Pours a clear amber color with no head. Looks dead. Aroma is caramel and very faint leafy medicinal hops. Medicinal taste with bread and peppery hops. Medium bodied. Muddled taste. This one’s a mess.

22 ounce bottle from Ellwood Thompson’s in Richmond, VA. Pours a clear red color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of nutty caramel hops. Taste is caramel, toffee, a salty note, taco seasoning, nuts, very light butter and light hops. Medium bodied. Quite weird. Doesn’t seem infected... just bizarre.

22 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Fairfax. Pours a clear golden amber color with a medium head. Fair head retention and lacing. Sweet and grassy aroma... with honey and corn. Taste is pale lightly toasted malts, bitter grassy hops and light fruity notes. Fairly crisp and refreshing. Medium bodied.

February 2009 22oz bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown color, with a pretty substantial brown light brown head. Aroma is malts, dark chocolate and raspberries. Flavor is chocolate malt, with a solid raspberry flavor. Slightly tart, but not sour.

On tap at the brewery on 02/28/2009. Hazy golden body with a large frothy off-white haed. Sweet banana, clove, spice, and fruit aroma. Sweet fruity flavor with clove, belgian spice and slight tart hints. Light body with moderate carbonation.

22 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Fair Lakes. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a large tan head. Good retention and fair lacing. Aroma of raspberries, chocolate and light roasted malts. Taste is bitter roasted malts, chocolate and light smoke with a raspberry finish. Medium bodied. Quite nice.
