Bottle, unnoticed by me for a while it says 9% ABV. Moderate gusher. Dark brown with a tan head that settles to around half an inch an lasts well. Aroma is roasty with chocolate, then sour red berries and oak. Texture has a silky element, but there’s also a zingy and brackenish feel. Sweet and sour - chocolate, moderate roast, sour plums and berries, quite a bit of wood at the end. A bit vinous in the okay red way, but less so than Moa IS - I suppose this is a bit of that and a bit sour brown. Interesting and good.

Taster at Belaire Tavern, Nelson. No obvious aroma. Light brown beer with small white head. Low carbonation. Malty, smoky, bitter. All very restrained. There’s a touch of pepper and sourness in the finish.
