Bottle from Asao. Tangy funky nose, lactic, citrus, funk and dust. Cloudy orange gold, high, fine head. Sweet stone fruits, wood, citrus, barnyard, sour, sweet background with wild funk. Yogurt, vanilla. Wow, this is great. Very complex and wild, yet lovely smooth flavors. Excellent. Big surprise from an unknown brewer. A Belgian version of Hill Farmstead?

Bottle from Au Nom de la Bière, Brussels, bb 26Sept2014
Deep blond color, hazy, with generous compact head. It’s a good beer, with a good body structure, round, with mild spicy yeast characteristics and low hop character; the aroma also has a light cereals touch. But rather simple.

Nice crisp deep amber coloured body with some lighter copper glow and a thin, half centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of fresh hops, light alcohol, some grassiness, a hint of yeast and some light sugars. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence with a very bubbly mouthful; Strong malt flavour with some yeast definitely noticeable, a hint of grass, some light hops and a bit of sugars at the tail end. Aftertaste is very bland with only the malt and yeast sparkling through - not much of anything else, perhaps a bit of barnyardie funk, like a biere de garde or almost like a saison, but not much else. Overall, a decent belgie, but there are much better out there of course. Still - worth the space in my suitcase for this one, and definitely, well worth sampling here! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Beer Mania in Bruxelles, Belgium on 30-June-2012 for €3,50 sampled at home in Washington on the other side of the pond after a great Detroit Red Wings victory on 22-March-2013.

14/III/13 - 33cl bottle @ home (Gent) - BB: 13/XI/14 (2013-241) Thanks to Jerre for getting me the bottle!
Cloudy ruby red beer, big fizzy pink to red head, unstable, dissipates immediately, non adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, fresh cherries, cherry jam, some chloride, sourish, lemon, dairy, yoghurt, bit cheesy. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: surprisingly bitter start, bit grassy, slightly fruity, sour cherries, but quickly overpowered by bitter metallic flavours. Aftertaste: some citric acidity, slightly fruity, bitter hops, metallic, cherries, some dairy, bitter yeast.

09/02/2013 330ml bottle.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a medium-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Yeasty, slightly mouldy and oaky, woody malty aroma with fruity notes of cherries and berries, accompanied by hints of honey and shades of caramel and vanilla. Sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Moderately oaky malty taste with vinous fruity notes of red currant and cherries; moderately sweet vinous-fruity, even a bit acidic finish with tannic spots in the aftertaste. Very interesting brew. 07.II.13
