Description

Bottle from ABC Drinks. Chocolaty, winy nose, tons of raisins, maybe figs, dried fruit, plus apples coming out later. Slightly spicy. Very rich, full nose. Dark maroon-brown with a tall, fine, pillowy head. Not nearly as sweet as expected, rather tart actually, caramel, dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, orange, apples. Well balanced, though not as rich as the nose leads one to believe. Tangy finish is just slightly bitter. Light and clean dubbel, it turns out, with high drinkablility but not so much depth. Still good.

Rich hazy golden orange coloured body with a frothy, two centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of alcohol, honey and yeast with a hint of curacao. Medium-bodied; Dense, rich flavour of honey, wheat, curacao, flowers and some very light spices. Aftertaste shows hints of bananas and cloves with a lot of yeast, some stronger alcohol notes and the good sweetness of honey. Overall, a very nice beer with a great yeast and sweetness that shows well as time goes on. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Bier Tempel in Bruxelles, Belgium yesterday on 12-August-2013 for €1,99 sampled in my hotel room in Gent, Belgium on 13-August-2013.

Rich, slightly hazy brown coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of raisins, toffee, nuts, earth, malt and way more pit fruits - very nice smelling, super sweet and strong, too! Medium-bodied; Very rich plum and prune flavours with a bunch of malt, nuts, earth, pit fruits and caramel notes throughout. Aftertaste shows a subdued malt characteristic with a nice sweetness and some still pungent prune and raisin sweetness. Overall, a very nice dubbel with a lot of sweetness and some subdued earthy malt notes. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Bier Tempel in Bruxelles, Belgium on 12-August-2013 for €2,25 sampled later in the day at my hotel room here at Sainte Catherines in Bruxelles, Belgium on 12-August-2013.

De Leite’s Cuvée Soeur’ise will wash that bad taste from my mouth! 750 yen or so, 8.5% an oak barrel aged triple Kriek from Uehata in Osaka. A beautiful blood red pour with a whitish-pink head of foam. Sour, tart cherry aroma with sweetness & some woodsy accents. Wow, interesting stuff, sweet & sour cherry followed by some boozy wood/oak notes giving it a rough earthy finish. I think this beer really comes off with a flavor profile similar to red wine. Good stuff & well worth trying. As it warms up some spices start to sneak through...

Bottled. Cherry and vanilla nose, cream, some vinegar. Deep red with a creamy, cyclamen head. Flavors of mild cherry, vanilla, not very sour. Wood, dry, woody finish. Nice body. Tasty.

Bottle. Big stanky nose, vinegar, yogurt, wood, grapefrui, lemon. Cloudy gold with lace. Sour, citrus flavor, lemon, light lactic noses. Very nice at first, then it goes to a woody, slightly rancid finish. Soft and full. Would be great if the finish were softer. Still, quite interesting and good.

Bottle sample @ VBPF ’13. Acajou, col fin beige.
