Description
We are dedicated to the entire experience of craft; from our creative food menu to our unique beers. The adventure started with creating a perfect beer, and we have kept that focus since our opening in 2005 with 31 combined rotating taps plus hard cider and a variety of wines. The Saugatuck Brewing Company (SBC) has a large family friendly pub, outside patio plus a secondary tap room dubbed “The Barrel Room” for multiple different dining and drinking experiences in one building. We operate on a 45 barrel Brew System with 960 barrels of Fermentation Space and the ability to age over 400 wood barrels at one time.

This brew pours a hazy golden color with a medium foamy white head that burns away steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of floral hops, citrus and malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character and flavors of sweet malt, citrus and a touch of pine. The finish is hoppy with a fruity aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at Kalamazoo Beer Exchange. Pours brownish-black with a thin light beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, roasted malt and vanilla. Medium body with flavors of sweet chocolate malt, vanilla and a bit of fruit. The finish is chocolatey with a sweet aftertaste. Interesting idea and relatively well-executed gimmick.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled 12/03/2011. Pours slightly hazy golden amber color with a nice 2-3 finger dense off white head with great retention that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Some decent lacing left on the glass; with a good amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of big grapefruit, herbal, floral, orange, pine, some tropical fruits, and a bit of bread. Nice and well balanced aromas with decent strength. Taste of big pine, herbal spiciness, biscuit, caramel, grapefruit, orange, and light tropical fruits. Good sized bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pine, biscuit, herbal spiciness, and citrus on the finish for a while. Decent balance of flavors; but the bready/herbal quality is a bit over the top for my liking. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and slightly oily mouthfeel. A bit of prickly carbonation on the palate. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming on the finish. Good drinkability for the level of alcohol. Overall this is a solid IPA. Has nice aromas, but the taste is quite a bit different.

12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark red brown with a light tan head. Lightly roasted coffee and cocoa aroma. Restrained roasty flavor, coffee, with dark cocoa and a touch of molasses. Maybe just a tiny touch of banana. Great flavor, very well done.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy gold with an off-white head. Resinous, spicy, and grapefruit aromas. Flavors of grapefruit and spicy hops with a bitter finish. Just a decent IPA.
