Description
We are dedicated to the entire experience of craft; from our creative food menu to our unique beers. The adventure started with creating a perfect beer, and we have kept that focus since our opening in 2005 with 31 combined rotating taps plus hard cider and a variety of wines. The Saugatuck Brewing Company (SBC) has a large family friendly pub, outside patio plus a secondary tap room dubbed “The Barrel Room” for multiple different dining and drinking experiences in one building. We operate on a 45 barrel Brew System with 960 barrels of Fermentation Space and the ability to age over 400 wood barrels at one time.

Served on draft at the Michigan Summer Beerfest, 2010, as part of RBSG festivities. Pours a clear coppper color with a medium head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma of spruce... fruity and gummy... with some citrus notes. The taste is citrus, spruce and earthy notes. Medium bodied.

On tap at MBGSF 2010. Pours a hazy amber. Light pine tree aroma. Flavor is a combination of spruce balanced with red fruit, earthiness, citrus. Nicely complex and well balanced.

On tap at the brewpub. Deep brown body, thin off-white head. Light nose with roasty malts and piny hops. Rich, chewy body, with creamy chocolate and chocolate-covered berries, caramel, and roasted malts cut by bitter, rindy, piny hops. Bitter finish. Surprisingly malt-driven, quite rich and very good.

On tap at the brewpub. Clear light straw body, thin ring of off-white carbonation. Light, adjuncty, sweet grain nose with light floral hops. Watery, cerealy, adjuncty body, grainy with light sweetness and nuttiness. There is a distinct somewhat offensive vegetal quality. Not good.

Bottle. Pours a hazy gold with visible carbonation with a small but thick white head that lasts. Aroma has strong malty profile with caramel, nuts and an awkward strong hay note. Flavor is very malty as well with the same awkward hay note as well as cereal and bread.
