Description
Holy Mountain is a brewery and taproom located in the Interbay neighborhood of Seattle, founded by co-owners Colin Lenfesty and Mike Murphy in 2014. The influence of oak has always been the focus of the majority of beers brewed at Holy Mountain. A sizable building near the Seattle waterfront has allowed the team to build a vast stock of oak barrels, puncheons, and foudres used for both primary fermentation as well as long-term aging.
The proximity of the brewery to the Yakima Valley also allows the team of brewers to utilize hops from the best producers in the world, constantly exploring the relationship between hops, oak, and mixed fermentation. Holy Mountain doesn't offer any year-round beers, which creates an ever-changing lineup in the brewery taproom. In addition to oak-influenced beers, Holy Mountain also offers a wide range of rotating, hop-forward ales and lagers.

TCBW2026. Black colour, small head. Aroam is sweet liquorice, some chocolate, toast, sweetish-tart apples and mild vanilla along with some wood. Flavour is a blend of the same elements, in a rather nice way. Alcohol does push through a little bit, but not burning the gums. Good sipper.

TCBW2026. Pitch black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is nutty, some candy sugar, mild alcohol as well as some chocolate and vanilla. Flavour is similar to the aroma, but also has mildly toasted tones to it. Alcohol comes through a bit more in the flavour than in aroma. Big'n'Bold.

16 ounce can from Tavour. Copper red color. Rocky beige head. Sweet toasted malt aroma has a wisp of smokiness. Earthy malt flavor has toasty, woody notes. Hints of toffee and oak in middle. Dries out on backend. There is an underlying complexity to this brew that elevates it to another level. Well done.
