Special, limited version of Sugar Creek's Dark Reflection, partially fermented with Brettanomyces and aged on wine barrels. From tap at BeerTemple in Amsterdam. Very loose and open, irregular- and large-bubbled, pale greyish white head, disappearing almost completely after a while; misty bronze robe, translucent with warm ruby hue. Aroma of blue grapes, dry red wine, passionfruit, blackberries, dry tree leaves, plum, sugared tea, wet wood. Fruity and estery but not overly 'wildly' so, black cherries, blue plums, grapes and blackberries, sweet nectarine-ish core surrounded by soft vinous tartness, soft carb (close to flat even, causing it to lack a bit in body), slick mouthfeel, dryish; smooth caramelly malt body, sweet in its core but dried by woody tannins, the red wine element and 'Bretty', blackberry- and passionfruit-like esters, tad earthy and a little bit herbal in the end but remaining smooth and relatively clean. Dark Reflection, if I'm correctly informed, seems to be a kind of dubbel or quad in Belgian style, but the Brett and wine barrel treatment have effectively turned it into an 'oud bruin' (Flemish red) of sorts, like some old school Flemish 'versnijbier'. Works very well like this, in spite of the lack of carbonation, head retention and body - minor defaults which did not bother me too much as aroma and flavour were delicious. Interesting, all the more because this is apparently only done in very limited quantities and wasn't even on Untappd or other beer rating sites yet either...

Banana and fruity aroma. Taste starts sweet and has a hint of spice at the end. Similar to Hefeweizen or witbiers such as Shock Top.
