Thanks Luigi for this bottle that I have tried at Bonfol during this summer/winter that it is too hot. This one is good, classical Belgian beer, boozy but it is discreet, smooth and bready at the palate, a bit fruity, classical hop. 25.02.2021

Can 33cl. from AH XL Muiden @home poured into a shaker. Hazy pale golden colour, good lasting frothy white head, good lacing. Aroma sweet malt, grain, lemon, some wort. Taste above medium sweet, light bitter, lemon, candy sugar, lactose, light herbal notes. Light body, watery texture, sweetbitter aftertaste, quite metallic, refreshing but hardly a beer, pfff.

Blonde ale brewed from leftover bread (a trusted formula that has been applied in several countries already, usually with ecological intentions), in this case the bread that is left over from the catering services on the Eurostar trains, among others. Though the can does not mention it, the guy who came up with this idea says somewhere on his LinkedIn profile that it is actually brewed at the Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium, so I will accept that as the physical ‘source’. Thanks tderoeck for sharing. Thick and moussey, snow white, large-bubbled, frothy head on a lightly hazed pale yellow-golden blonde robe. Aroma of dried out white bread, withering grass, green pear, herb crackers, unripe apricot, dried field flowers, white pepper. Fruity, crisp but straightforward onset, some green pear and unripe banana, sweetish with lively carbonation adding a lot of minerality; smooth white-bready and bit cracker-like pale malt core under mild herbal spiciness (vague thyme, probably phenolic) and a late but effective, floral hop bitterness that balances out the sweetness and lasts a bit. As stereotypical as it gets for a Belgian style blonde in spite of bread being an actual ingredient here, deliberately kept simple and to the point – but technically well executed, which is the least one can expect from Proef, if that is indeed the executive brewery.

Bottiglia.
