Description
De Kip brewery was established in May 2014 by Jos Huijgens from Ossenisse in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Jos started in 1992 in his then hometown Bergen op Zoom as a hobby brewer. In 2004 he built a small hobby brewery in the barn at his current home in Ossenisse. In 2015 he ended up at 't Hofbrouwerijke in Beerzel, where, under the watchful eye of the brewmaster, he was able to brew his own beer. And because this brewery indicated that it was going to expand, Jos decided to take over the installation of 't Hofbrouwerijke and to place it in Ossenisse. The installation is now operational, and Jos now brews 10 hl of beer per brewing day. The lager capacity has gone from 850 liters to 5000 liters, so it is now a real brewery.

Opaque dark brown colour with ruby hue, small fizzy off-white head, vanishes within seconds. Aroma sweet malt, sweet/fortified wine, dark fruit, barnyard, hint of cocoa. Taste light light heavy sweet, slightly bitter, malty, dark fruit, sweet wine, clear alcohol presence. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation, short sweet aftertaste, bit malty bitterness, burnt caramel, some dried fruit, hint of chocolate, boozy. Strange brew that spiral down as it were, interesting and complex aroma is followed by a rather flat taste and a short aftertaste, drinkable.

GUSHER ALERT!

Little cloudy brown to red brown beer, big creamy irregular beige head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: hoppy, bit fruity, some tropical fruits, bit malty, caramel, yeasty, some banana. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sweet up front, quite some caramel malts, alcohol, some yeast esters, banana touch. Aftertaste: nice bitterness, fruity esters, hoppy, some banana. Nice decent hoppy full malt Tripel.

0.33 l bottle from 'Ace Drinks', best before March 2020. A bit hazy, pale golden yellow with a medium large, slightly fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. A bit sweetish, grassy, gently yeasty-spicy and slightly fruity-floral aroma of lemon peel, hay, clove and hints of grains. Minimally sweet, moderately bitter, rather dry, gently yeasty-spicy, grassy and slightly fruity-floral taste of clove, hay, some lemon peel and a touch of grains, followed by a short, moderately bitter, fairly dry, gently yeasty-spicy finish. Thin body, quite effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Fairly drinkable and refreshing beer, doesn't taste like just 3.9% abv.

Clear pale yellow beer, big creamy solid white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty, some banana, bit sweet, some marzipan, sugary. MF: very lively carbon, medium to light body. Taste: malty, yeast, coriander, spicy, dry, floral. Aftertaste: malty, some citrus, bitter touch, pretty watery, floral, ok for a low abv beer, but not really great.
