Description
Bøgedal is Scandinavia’s only all-gravity brewery and is boiled over an open fire using local wood as fuel. Bøgedal’s brewing method is an attraction in itself, since the brew flows freely (all gravity), from vat to vessel, without pumping, creating different levels by use of hand-powered hoists and pulleys.

365ml bottle as nr. 0655 Jule Booster, 7.7 % abv, kindly shared by Finn. A rocky off-white head leaving scattered lacing on the glass. Pitch black body appearance. Appealing smell of bread and chocolate malts. Malt-driven taste profile of chocolate, nuts and caramel supported by some impacts of dried fruits. Ends with chocolate malts, warming. Strangely soft on the swallow. Pretty nice. (Rating session with Finn, lmojoh and djoeye, Tromsø 16.05.2020).

Bottle. Pours clear dark coffee brown with no head and seems totally flat. Aroma is roasted malt, brown sugar, prunes, cocoa and liquorice. Taste is medium to very sweet, light to medium bitter and faint salty. Body is oily with faint to almost no carbonation. Finish is long and rich with balanced sweet and bitter notes of gravy, malt, brown sugar, grapes, prunes, raisins, soy sauce, mint, liquorice, cocoa and dark chocolate. Very rich and intense yet in excellent balance but could have had a bit more carbonation.

Hazy orange with a lasting white head. Aroma of biscuit, berries, funk and a medicinal touch of iodine. Sweetish and tart with fruity flavour and a bit more iodine than I would prefer. It gets better though. Perhaps it's one of those beers to decant first.
