Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting XVI (Last Call) on 10/09/2025. Flat black pour with a medium thin beige head that dissipates quickly to a film. Sparse patches of lace. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, rye and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, vanilla, rye malt and chocolate fudge. The finish is oaky and boozy with a rye malt and bourbon aftertaste. Good beer overall.

16 oz. can, courtesy of Ibrew2or3 (thanks Dave), pours clear golden with a small white head. Aroma has a little allium, light pine, and biscuity malt. Flavour has gentle dankness, piney hops, a touch of allium, and crisp biscuity malt. Nice lightly dank, moderately piney hop finish. Very nicely made.

16 oz. can, courtesy of Ibrew2or3 (thanks Dave), pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of campfire smoke and moderate earthiness. Flavour is smoky and dry, with lots of campfire smoke, dry earthiness—almost to the point of being muted—along with some minerality. A bit washed out but pleasant nonetheless. Good.

16 oz. can, courtesy of Ibrew2or3 (thanks Dave), pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma has gentle piney hops, light citrus, and a touch of sweet cereal malt. Flavour reveals a nice piney hop character, light woodiness, a touch of oiliness, a touch of minerality, and crisp biscuity malt. Reasonable hop expression but a bit too mineraly. Very good.

473mL can. Pours clear gold with a white head. Tons of bright pine, bitter resins, and only a touch of allium on the nose. Flavour has a very nice hop expression with lots of clean pine, some bitter resins; a bit of less pleasant white onion character from the Citra. No minerality and a decent body. Pretty solid.

16 oz. can, courtesy of Ibrew2or3 (thanks Dave), pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma is restrained, with light grapefruit, a touch of pine, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is nicely bitter, with piney hops, some grapefruit bitterness, and crisp crackery malt. Good bitterness on the finish and very drinkable. Very good.

473mL can. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Tons of smokey wood on the nose; a bit like smoked ham. Flavour has a good amount of smoke, a bit on the soft side, more of that smoked ham thing. Not much from the malts aside from smoke. The body is pretty mineralic. It's not bad.

355ml bottle. Jet black colour with slightly late awakening, small, creamy, fading, tan head. Sweet-ish, mildly roasty, chocolately, dark malty and spicy aroma, notes of cinnamon, chili, vanilla, dark chocolate, cocoa, chocolate sauce, hints of allspice, ginger, aniseed. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately, dark malty and heavily spicy as well as slightly fruity alcoholic, lots of cinnamon, notes of cocoa, dark chocolate, chili, vanilla, black pepper, hints of cherry, a touch of red berries; well embedded, slowly accumulating peppery spiciness; minimally warming, alcoholic as well as spicy finish.
Viscous texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying palate, fine, soft to flat, creamy carbonation.
Excellent composition, rich and manifold, superb quality of spicy adjuncts - great!
