Description
At the beginning of 2000 we founded our own beer tasting club as a group of friends. we tasted different beers, and soon our interest in beer in general and brewing in particular grew. This interest led to a brewing course and soon our first home-brewed beer followed. A delicious tripel. From then on, beers were brewed at regular intervals with trial and error. Our interest in beer turned into a real passion. From that passion we continued to develop new beers. The quality clearly increased. The choice of playing cards for our labels is also not chosen by chance. As the international capital of the playing card, Turnhout is also our birthplace. We are therefore very proud to be able to present an extensive and varied range to you. By following the increasing demand for our beers and the growing export demand, we decided to build our own brewery. Hard work was done in the spring to have the brewery operational by the summer of 2015. At the end of July we were extremely proud to be able to brew the first beer in our own kettles. In addition to a state-of-the-art brewing installation of 30HL, yeast and bearing tanks of 60Hl and 120HL and our own bottling line, we also have a cellar for the storage of barrels for barrel-aged beers.
In May 2020 a merger of Het Nest and Pirlot took place, but both breweries keep on operating independent from each other.

Bottle from Beer Planet, Brussels
Cloudy blond color with too much head and evidently too much carbonation. Aroma of bitter orange peel, yeast, phenol, rubber and other chemicals. Medium dry mouthfeel, with high carbonation; simple flavor, light presence of yeast, but also vegetables; ordinary bitterness.
Not very good.

Dark brown color with some sediment and generous compact head. Simple aroma, some roasted malt and dark caramel. The mouthfeel is affected by the high carbonation, there is some flavor of chocolate and roasted malt, and too much liquorice for a Belgian beer; some alcohol feeling in the end.
Average drink.

Taste: sourish start, citrus, lemony, pretty bitter, piny resin flavours, grapefruit. Aftertaste: bit sweet, malty, pretty bitter, still fruity, grapefruit, bit cheesy, something off. Good try to make something different, but it's not completely there yet.

Bottle from Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA. Pours light amber with a creamy/fizzy head. Aroma of noble hop over sweet caramel with a hint of yeast/spice. Med body. Flavor is yeast/spice, tho not much banana ester. Itβs a little earthy, moderately bitter and suggests astringency. As I continue it seems to get ever more bitter. Certainly drinkable.
