Bottled (BB 10/2004)
Very dark ruby, almost opaque. Good creamy expresso head. Aroma has licorice, dark choclate, molasses, wood. Full-bodied, smooth and sweetish palate: licorice, roasted coffee beans. Warming a bit alcoholic long finish, which brings some bitterish tones. Polish masterpiece!

Bottled, 1999(?) vintage. Near black, rich firm beige head.cSweet and rich, still a bit sugary. Lightly roasty, tarry and very salty. I don’t really think aging this beer does it very good - the hop character is probably all gone by now, but oh well, it was worth a shot...

Deep, relatively clear red-brown body. Thin tan head. Toffee, caramel, raisins, toast and brown sugar comprise the (quite doppelbocky) aroma. The same components carry over to the flavor but the emphasis here is on toasty roasted malts and brown sugar with minimal raisin and subdued caramels. Rich flavor profile although the beer is quite thin-bodied.

Today was supposed to be the day I visited the Tatran brewery in Slovakia. Because I got screwed out of that, I had to settle. That’s an understatement, actually. Golden colour. Limp, watered down flavour and aroma. Hint of malt but bugger all for hops. Not a pilsner and not worth trying twice.

Golden colour, no head, oversized bubbles. Slightly fresh, but rather watery character.A little acidic in the finish. Vaguely malty. Light grainy notes.

Not a bad beer - just average. Average taste for a lager but a bit on the sweet side. Not too bitter. Pleasant.

Blond color. Light malt aroma and flavor, correct bitterness. Not bad on a hot summer day in Warsaw...

Blond color. Very strange aroma, light, of alcohol and cleaning products. Poor character, spicy berries, dry, a bit harsh, bad.

A pitch black beer with a huge chocolate brown head. The aroma is of coffee, chocolate, alcohol, blueberries and roasted malt. The flavor is great, roasted malt, lots of bitter chocolate, coffee, toffee, raisins, prunes, plums, slight notes of smoke, and hints of the alcohol on the palate and in the aftertaste where it blends well with the bitter notes from the roasted malt. A great beer.

This beer pours a golden yellow with a thin mold like creamy head. The initial sniff has scents of corn and sugar cane. Maybe some honey. Strong taste of corn and quite sweet. Corn syrup??? A little hoppy, almost bitter but not quite. The finisha little watery. The palate is pretty clean, maybe because of the watery taste??? Not too bad of a beer but kind of boring.

Greige, dense head; jet-black beer. Beautiful Schwarzwald cake nose, with loads of cocoa, blueberries, cream and the whole shebang. Initial bitterness in the taste, combined with roasted malts, with good cigar ash aroma, black chocolate, then ever so slowly gliding towards the sweet. Well-bodied. I have difficulty believing 9.3 %. Fusels, no doubt. I drank a "Zywiec traditional old porter" some years ago. If this is the same, I'll eat my shoes. Or they have awfully bettered their techniques in Poland.
