Description
We have been brewing beer for beer lovers since 1994. The brewery was founded in the city of Bergen op Zoom (The Netherlands) which is situated at the banks of the Eastern Scheldt (Dutch: Oosterschelde). In 2008 the brewery moved to the city of Hoogstraten in Antwerp Province, just across the Belgian border with The Netherlands. There we continued to brew well balanced beers, classic Belgian with a modern touch. Many characteristics still refer to our birthplace. Our mascot the crab is also the mascot of Bergen op Zoom and the two so called ‘wild men’ are shown in the flag and coat of arms of the city since 1622. These wild men are still shown on all our labels, portraying the different beer names.

Every sip of Scheldebeer has been brewed in our own brewery, build with love and care. We are ambitious brewers who prefer craft beers with a sense of the past and a taste of the present. True to traditions but always looking for an exciting balance between nostalgic and new, modest and daring. Our beers are unfiltered, unpasteurized and have bottle refermentation. Besides from all the natural ingredients we hope you'll taste patience and devotion in all the flavours. Cheers!

An orange beer with sediment floating around and a beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and yeast - and the flavor is like the aroma with the yeast very accentuated.

(bottle) Hazy red to amber colour with a mid-sized frothy and slightly off-white head. Sweet malty and dense fruity (cassis) nose with a yeasty background. Medium sweet and fruity flavour, medium body, fizzy carbonation. Quite balanced soft sweet malty and fruity taste with a nice cassis note in the somewhat lasting finish. Really not bad.

Bottle: Cloudy, yellow to orangey coloured, thin but lasting off-white head; mainly fruity nose (citrus, lemon), also "typical" banana aromas; initial sweet fruitiness, mild bitter-sweet flavour; mild sweet fruity and a little bit tart finish. The label indicates "Saaz and Hallertauer" hops..... where are they? Too monotonous, too sweet! MoritzF, dank u wel voor deeze monsters!

Big thanks to maeib for this bottle, cheers Mark. Hazy orange with thin white head. Hop, yeast, tangerine, bit of cream on the aromas. All these flavours carry on into the mouth and are added to by some whiskey and candy sugar. Good fruit throughout and an extremely enjoyable beer.

Bottle from St Albans Beer Festival that I took home. Opaque very dark ruby/brown. Beige head. Not a lot of aroma other than some liquorice. Some fullness in mouth with more liquorice on the finish. Not much of anything else and certainly as an oyster stout a bit disappointing. Not rich enough.
