Description
We have been brewing beer for beer lovers since 1994. The brewery was founded in the city of Bergen op Zoom (The Netherlands) which is situated at the banks of the Eastern Scheldt (Dutch: Oosterschelde). In 2008 the brewery moved to the city of Hoogstraten in Antwerp Province, just across the Belgian border with The Netherlands. There we continued to brew well balanced beers, classic Belgian with a modern touch. Many characteristics still refer to our birthplace. Our mascot the crab is also the mascot of Bergen op Zoom and the two so called ‘wild men’ are shown in the flag and coat of arms of the city since 1622. These wild men are still shown on all our labels, portraying the different beer names.

Every sip of Scheldebeer has been brewed in our own brewery, build with love and care. We are ambitious brewers who prefer craft beers with a sense of the past and a taste of the present. True to traditions but always looking for an exciting balance between nostalgic and new, modest and daring. Our beers are unfiltered, unpasteurized and have bottle refermentation. Besides from all the natural ingredients we hope you'll taste patience and devotion in all the flavours. Cheers!

Red amber color. Strong aroma: malt, caramel, alcohol, vegetables, phenol, hop. Quite dry mouthfeel, with a lot of caramel, some malt; not fully convincing.

Rerate Drank from tap: Very complex bock, which is very fruity and malty, and the sticky rye i was tasting last time, was not dominant at all. Indeed not really a bock, but more like a double. Original rate 2.9 Extremely dark brown, very cloudy. Short lasting frothy head. Aroma of rye (definitely) and roasted malts, toasted bread. Flavor is quite complex, roasted malts, caramelly sweet. Not my kind of beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Wildebok (2019) on 01 Oct 2018 at 21:17 - Score: 7. Original review text: Oldschool bok. Wat een genot na dat alcoholvrije gedrocht

Carbonating orange amber color, creamy pinkish head. Sweet and sour cherry-like aroma, bit tart gueuze like. Amber malty taste, tart cherry. Quite different tastes together. Creamy vanilla body. Nice brew.

RerateThis is very very good! Looks are the same as last time. Aroma is strong of sweet caramel, chocolatmilk maybe, bit spicy and malty. Taste is sweet and malty, complex but balanced. Long lingering palate. HMM, delicious! Original ratingCloudy caramel-brown color, small but longlasting head. Aroma is malty, but not roasted, a bit spicy more, though not very strong. Very nice spicy malty taste, but a bit thin maybe. A beer to age i guess, and the one i had was very 'young'. Overall taste is very good and complex, but it lacks some body.

Beautiful yellow golden color. Medium lasting creamy head. Tiny particles floating around. Aroma is a bit spicy and malty, but a bit thin. Soft taste, slightly spicy, belgian blonde-like. Bit dry palate. Another good brew from the Scheldebrouwerij!

Slightly hazy, golden color. Small head. Aroma is spicy and yeasty. Little carbonation, medium body. Spicy taste, typical belgian blonde ale. Slightly bitter palate. Not bad, not good either.

Cloudy orange-brown color. Head is initially large, frothy and rocky, but diminished quickly to a small but lasting head. Aroma is spicy and grainy, but also a bit earthy malt like. Thick body. Taste is sweet spicy, bitter. Bitter palate. Very decent brew by the Scheldebrouwerij! --- Beer merged from original tick of Mug on 25 Sep 2012 at 10:57 - Score: 6. I did not know what to expect from this, but what a pleasant surprise! Cloudy brown color, with beautiful long-lasting creamy head. Spicy, fruity and maybe a bit hoppy aroma. Bit malts add to the taste. Palate becomes a bit acidic at the end of the glass. But this Dulle Griet is certainly very good!
