About
Cotleigh Brewery began life in Devon in 1979, in the old stable block of Cotleigh Farmhouse at Washfield near Tiverton. Immediate success meant that in 1980 the brewery moved to the historic brewing town of Wiveliscombe in Somerset. Its original owner Ted Bishop was succeeded in the early 80's by John and Jenny Aries, who built upon the brewery's success. The brewery moved in 1985 to the current location in order to fulfil ever-increasing demand. Currently is Stephen Heptinstall the sole owner of the Brewery.

Bottle from Aldi and drunk at home. Clear orange amber colour with a lasting beige head. Some malt flavour, then some light citrus fruit. OK. Entertaining bitter, kept me interested whilst I drank it. Some decent hop finish that lasted for some time. Good malt.

Cask @ Globe, Moorgate, London. Golden-amber with a thin bubbly head. Has a sticky-sweet texture with mostly sugary with a hint of fruit.

Cask at Swan, Farnborough. Grassy, hay aroma. Chestnut. Fluffy but blotchy off-white head. Initially a vague sweetness but bitterness creeps in and then takes over. A malty undertow and as I drink more the sweetness reappears into the finish. More than light bodied, but still watery. Light carbonation. Abrupt finish. Better than average average bitter, more to it than twigs.

Bottle from Cooperative Supermarket, Minehead. Golden with next to no head. Steady golden ale with a seemingly unaffected fruitiness for a clear bottle ale (although I pulled it out from the back of the shelf where the least amount of daylight reached). Session texture with a hint of activity in the palate.

Cask @ Regal Moon, Rochdale. Clear golden with a small creamy head. Has a very palatable texture with a bubble-gum sweetness prevalent in both aroma and taste.

On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - golden with a nice lacy head. Nose - orange and barley sweets. Taste - confirmed those orange barley lozenge things. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - solid.
