Bottle: Poured a pale yellow color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of unrefined grain with lightly sweet malt base is not very interesting. Taste is a mix between some unrefined grain notes with some less then clean cereal notes and a gross sweet finish. Body is light with average carbonation. This one is lacking body and has got issues with its grain bill.

Originally rated August 2006. Comes in a 750ml dark wine bottle with an attractive metal shield as a label. Pours a dark red-orange colour with a good creamy head that stays a while. Cloudy with small sediments at the bottom of the tulip glass. The aromas are of nuts, caramel, dark fruits and malt. This bottle was given to me for my birthday by Pedro and has been sitting in my cellar for a while. I guess that helped the smooth taste, with no alcohol burn. Very nice, with some fruits, roasted malt and very mild bitterness in the aftertaste. Quite a nice brew for Saint Arnould, and worth trying just to have the bottle.

Originally rated November 2006. Pours a hazy deep caramel-red colour with a tanned creamy head that has decent retention. Lacing is minimal and carbonation is average. The nose is beautiful with yeast and spices that reminds me of Unibroue. Mild bananas are present too. The mouthfeel is pretty thin, but it does stick a bit. Light roasted malt is part of the flavours, with some little bitterness and not much aftertaste. Too bad for the lack in the taste and mouthfeel, this brew could of been something special.

Originally rated November 2006. Quite an interesting-looking lager. This one is slightly hazy with a bright gold colour. The carbonation is a blizzard for many minutes, with bubbles going crazy all-over. Big white creamy-fluffy head that stays a long time and leaves chunky lacing. The nose is quite nice with citrus fruit, like strong grapefruit. Unfortunately, the rest is pretty bad. Watery mouthfeel with a mild creaminess to it. Vegetable taste that does not represent the aromas at all. Yukkk ! Cannot even say that this is a refreshing lager.

Bouteille 341ml.

Tried to mix that yeast at the bottom of the bottle, very slowly... but did not matter. Blew some beer all over my desk. Even after 5 minutes of the bottle being open, still created a huge head. Caramel-amber colour and cloudy with a beige frothy head, great retention and loads of chunky lace. Carbonation is pretty active with tiny bubbles. Hoppy nose with notes of berry juices. Boring watery mouthfeel, hardly any tart to it. The taste is kind of bland, with some malt, some nuts, some raspberries and no sign of hop that was found in the scent. Must punch up their flavours.

This has that dark sugary molasses mess of a body that isn’t at all appetizing, after sampling too many of these Québec beers that are overloaded with sweetness to boost the alcohol; and there is little head as well. The aroma is fruity syrup. The flavour is malt boosted by sweetness to make a fruity kind of near-malt-liquor mess. Drinkable, but barely.

Beautiful big frothy beige head and a deep mahogany body with only modest carbonation. Very faint malt aroma. Flavour is a nice mix of dry IPA hops with just a hint of ale malt. Very tasty, very drinkable.

A hazed blonde ale with a thin white head. In aroma, yeasty malt with light sulfury notes, some faint bubblegum and apples. In mouth, a lightly yeasty apple malt, coriander, light spoilage signs, amateurish. Bought from Peluso for 3.99$...way too expensive.

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy beige color ale with a large pure white frothy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of light sour apple notes and grainy wheat malt is somewhat refreshing. Taste is also dominated by apple notes with light sour notes and some grainy wheat malt which is more or less balanced with the apple juice. Body is quite full with great carbonation. Not bad overall though the mix between wheat and apple is not as interesting as I would have thought.
