Can from Against The Grain. Milky deep golden body with a thick off-white head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of peach and shortbread. Flavour of orange pith, earth and peach. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Bitter and rustic. Very nice.

People in the town of Rye are currently against the redevelopment of Cyprus Place. I'm not against this amber coloured rye beer, which is quite hoppy, lessening the grittiness that might be found from this special ale. It's flavoursome enough though.

My first ever drink in the Manchester Head Of Steam. Black coloured stout and although the fruit is prominent, chocolate is too, which serves to enhance the sweetness of the latter. Tasty, dense, fuller-bodied and perhaps not the most appealing to those not into the craft scene given it's slightly rich, it's worthy in my opinion.

Can shared. Slight hazy amber with lovely creamy head. Coffee, sweet malts, biscuits, roasted notes, apricot, caramel. Medium sweet and quite bitter. Over medium bodied, bit oily feel. Lovely.

On tap. Pours a very dark mahogany with moderate foamy head. Aromas of creamy caramel, dried fruit, and bready malts. Flavors follow same with additional sherry sweetness and a bit of vinous barrel. Big and malty. Good.

Cask at Borough Arms, Crewe. Pours a pale straw with medium sized off-white head and good lacing. Is slow to settle but does so eventually. Aroma has melon, mango and hints of ginger. In the mouth it starts off slightly bitter with a creamy texture but the bitterness increases. Flavour has citrus and floral hops plus hints of biscuits. Later there are traces of grains, lemongrass and melon as well. This is reasonable.

Rochdale Easter Ale Trail 2026, Beer#3. The hazy golden-blond one of three at The Baum. Hoppy, dryish, especially in aftertaste, but maintains some tropical fruitiness in taste, and this is best stated in aroma.

Draught Small whitish head, leaving lacerings over reddish brown beer. Wet dog, milkchocolate, strawberry, orangepeel, ureum. Sweetish, again strawberry(syrup). Spicy, seem to get some coriander. Bit vinous, ripe banana. Viscous, oily feel. Not very carbonated, some alcoholwarmth. Not bad, neither very special. Txs to Stef for sharing!
