Medium reddish-brown colour. Light chocolatey aroma. The body is thin with toasted notes and hints of roast....no cherries at all, though. Finishes thin and husky. Not big on this one.

bottle shared by jsquire - Pours dark amber with a thin head. The aroma and flavor are both basically just caramel malt. There’s a touch of hops in there. This thin bodied ale is only average, if that. On the plus side I didn’t notice the infected sourness that some reviewers seem to have encountered.

Dark brown ale with a lacing off white heading. Light coffee rinds in aroma, nutty notes, and light coffee. However, in mouth, a sourish malt with honey, but signs of infection, with lactic black olive overtones. Another infected ale, June 18, 2006.

Hazy amber ale with a thin white head. Rather lemony aroma...infected? A BC gueuze? Rather citric moutfeel, shadowing the malts, acidic points, not unpleasant, but way past its prime. Bottle was less than 6 months old. June 18, 2006.

Light bronze with a slight haze. Bready, crackerlike aroma. The flavour is quite toasty malt character with woody, cheesy (ossau-iraty) notes. Not really an ESB due to lack of hops but a pretty tasty beer, like an English strong with a minerally finish. (Also, should be noted this is quite a bit different from the last time we saw this one in bottles, back in the late ’90s)

Another spoilt beauty. Hazy golden ale with a thick white head. Sour diacetyl aroma. In mouth, the light lactic acid with the butterscotch makes this unpleasant, lemony. Light hops notes.

Hazy red brown ale with a thick light moka head. Pleasantr butterscotch aroma with light roasted notes. In mouth, euuughhhh! sourness comes out, with strong butter notes, nuts, and rather watery bodied. Infected!

2005 bottle I assume, shared on 11/6/05 with the Montreal crew. Filtered, force carbonated, low protein density makes for a thin appearance of mahogany-tan brown. Off-white head fizzles quickly away to a ring, leaving no lace. Aroma of buttercream, light chocolate sweetness and plenty of toffee/caramel. No hops. Flavor shows no hops either, but certainly brings plenty of caramel/toffee sugariness, very one-sided, with just a faint tinge of roast. More buttercream, but not terribly heavy, with a fizzy, annoying carbonation, moderately watery texture and a finish that has some dry, lightly vegetal/sourish notes, very faint, though. Body is medium, but the sugars provide no interesting complexity.

Dark brown, nearly black beer; dark dirty greige head, irregular & stout-like. Very strange nose, like condensed sugarbeet sap, honey, yes, and - God, I don’t know - some kind of sweet celery? Warming up, diacethyl. Soupy, slightly acidic taste, celery taste (=DMS?), even some diacetyl, butterscotch. David seriously considers an infection - and I’ll not be gainsaying him. There’s some sweetness in the taste, very far back, but it isn’t honey-like. Warming up, the acidity makes it undrinkable. Soupy MF too, as some faint oily film on water containing - oatmeal? Oy. Aye. Something wrong with this one, Mike. It’s more killeD bee than Killer Bee.
