500ml bottle. Somehow never rated this one. One of my favorite Doppelbocks, so rich and deep. Full bodied, but still quite drinkable. Bready, smooth body. Deep fruity tones meld with the caramel and chocolate. Excellent.

Bottle at the Peroj residence, with Dime and Hrabren. Thx Neven! 3.5 months past bb, eh, will be rerated. Lightly hazy body, off-white head, fleeting. Papery oxidation dominates, evident from the start, creamy, honeyish, grainy maltiness, pretty much no hop presence. Smooth malty, bit floral taste, dry, lightly soapy, ending astringent somewhat from yhe oxidation. Seems like it's quite nice when fresh and I was a bit generous with the score, will give it another go fresh if given the chance

Bottle from the Kloster. Brown with a foamy head of modest duration. Aroma promises prunes, toffee and hazelnuts. Taste is moderate sweet with hints of bitterness at the back. Medium bodied, slightly watery texture, carbonation thats a bit too prickly for the style. Decent.

Bottle direct from the Kloster. Amber with a fleeting crown. Not much to look at. Aroma is honey and vaguely floral with a touch of orange peel. Taste is the highlight, bitter and a touch citric over a well-rounded, honey sweet body. Lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied, mild carbonation. Goes down real easy. In the end, a good one.

16oz can from Das Alpenhaus. Dark, clear amber pour, small frothy off-white head settles down to thin silky layer. Sweet malty aroma, caramel, fresh brown bread. Taste is caramel, sweet, pumpernickel. Very tasty, finishes quick.

Bottle picked up at the Kloster. Brown with a creamy, white head. Aroma of toasted grains with earthy overtones and a hint of prunes. Caramel too, but fairly restrained. Taste is roasted bitter throughout. Lingering bitter finish with a touch of ash. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Very nice Dunkles.
