Bottle. Color: Murky brownish orange, off-white head. Aroma: Herbal / spicy and malty. Taste: Malty, earthy, quite strong herbal spicy. Some camphor. According to the label, only (historical) grains are used and no herbs or spices. If that's true, I am amazed about the spicyness of these grains. Long lasting finish. Medium body, below average carbonation. Moderate to over moderate sweet, moderate bitterness going to over moderate at the finish. A little bit soapy mouthfeel. Unusual brew for sure and I pretty much like it. Glad to have tasted it, thanks to my parents in law who were on holiday in the Bourtange area.

Bottle. Color: Hazy golden, white head. Aroma: Hoppy and malty, spicy notes, floral. Taste: Hoppy and malty, some lemon zest and orange zest. Spicy and floral. Some yeasty notes too. Subtle fruity, strong spicy / zesty bitterness at the dry finish. Just over medium body, above average carbonation. Lightly alcoholic. Moderate to over moderate, slightly sticky sweetness. Is this realy an Imperial IPA? Not my kind of beer.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a dark brown with an orange hue and a small, roughish, beige head. Nose is pure ethanol atop a base of malasses and dark, dried fruits. Rich, sweet body, unclean and almost chemical, oddly spicy, boozy finish. When you concentrate a beer via freeze distilling, you also concentrate the flaws. This wasn't all that pleasant - and all that effort.... 190123

Bottle 33 cl. Very lively pour. Black with a gigantic and frothy beige head with a good retention. Lightly roasty nose. Medium body, quite fizzy, faint roastiness with very little coffee notes. Bland and overly carbonated. 180123

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an oangey golden with a slight haze and a small, creamy off-white head. Spicy, fruity - apricot - aroma. Rich, sweet fruity body with a lowish carbonation. Spicy, fennel. Warming alcohol finish with plenty of hops. Not bad. 180123

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a hazy golden with a solid and lacing, white head. Fruity, yeasty, slightly phenollic nose. Medium body, solid maltiness, fruit and againthis phenollic touch. Again, far from horrible, but these Westerwolde beers don't quite hit bullseye. 141222
