Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin rim of brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of whiskey and alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, alcohol, and oatmeal as well as light notes of whiskey.

A red-brown beer with an OK brown head. The aroma is quite light, what is there is sweet with notes of chocolate. The flavor is sweet with light notes of chocolate, and with a good hop bitterness to balance the sweetness. The body is quite light, so it reminds me mostly of an English style Porter.

An orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is quite light, what is there is sweet malty with hints of oranges. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, leading to a dry metallic end.

A nut-brown beer - wonder where I got that from, with a thin light brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of nuts, while the flavor has notes of malt, caramel, and nuts as well as hints of nutmeg.

Bottle from Beer_Hawk; Thanks! Nose of caramel, molasses, and breadiness; clear brown with a small beige head; Flavor of molasses and burnt toast in a medium heavy body, plate and body were really nice, just need to get more flavor and get rid of the burnt taste. I found out while drinking this that Wish used to work in one of Wild Gooses pubs and since they didn’t have their own shirts at that time, the employees wore Budweiser Shirts!

Following suite with some of my regional RBers I got a 1998 bottle. The label has been lost by now but the nice wax covered head is all intact. As usual the wax is a bitch to take off. Brought out the snifter glass for this one. Pours with a humongous head, unbelievable unless seen I saw it with my own two eyes. However, the head fades quickly and leaves barely any lacing. Color is dark copper, very murky with zero clarity. Aroma is great and I got to agree on the Flemish Sour smell - wild, tart, sweet and sour strawberrys, amazing. Beneath that there is a present barleywine plum/raison malty aroma. Taste is simlarly a mix of sour and sweet berries with a very low malt presence. Mouthfeel is very nice as well, lively and tickles the cheeks. Very light mouthfeel. No hint of alcohol throughout , especially 13%. I mean just amazing what was accomplished with this beer, I wish I picked up more of this. 10/4/8/4/17

After a decade its still not showing a lot of signs of age. I got no cardboard. Its still full of sweet malts, some tea flavors, and a light bitterness from the malt at the end. Can go for a while longer. 8/3/8/3/15

Found a bottle of this at my company party, boy was I surprized. A little chocolate on the aroma. Pours very dark brown. Has a choclatey flavor that reminds me of their oatmeal stout. THis is one of the better brown beers I have had. Carbonation is below average. Finish is non offensive. Nice overall, kinda like a lite sweet stout. Better than bell’s and abita.

Bottled October 1998 - wow, huge carbonation, ruby hue with a well-sustained head, cloudy body - very flemish sour-like aroma, with lots of overripe apples, cherries (skins and all), plums and a cider-like acidity - much more belgian than it is barleywine-like - some light caramel and toffee at first, but a dry, belgian sour character settles in soon after that - some kriek-like cherry and spice flavors hand around a while - I’m not quite sure what this beer was supposed to be, but after 8 years in the bottle (at least in THIS bottle), it has turned into something great.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large brown head. The aroma is sweet, sour and has a strong chocolate syrup element. The flavor is roasty, toasty and moderately sweet with hints of chocolate and coffee and a moderate floral hop presence. The finish is bitter and roasty. A touch thin in body but smooth. Well done.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized dark tan head. The aroma is moderately strong with roasty malts and bitter floral hops. The flavor is bitter, roasty and has a moderately strong floral hops. The finish is bitter and roasty. Decent.
