About
The Fear family has been making Cider for as long as anyone can remember, but it was in 1880 that the first commercial batch was sold by Mr Metford Fear to a public house in Weston Super Mare.

Then for many years the same cider was made for friends, family and colleagues by Mr John Fear on his farms in the South West. John continues to help his son Andrew to make the cider today, having passed down the art of real cider making.

In 2005, Andrew, having settled in Nottinghamshire and realising the commercial potential of the cider began to produce it, as “Thirsty Farmer Cider”, to sell in his own Shop and at Country Fetes and Shows.

Handpull at the Barley Mow, Leicester. Golden, flat and slightly hazy. Fusty, earthy aroma with only touches of fruit. The taste is similar, there's an earthy mustiness complemented by sweet, sweet blackcurrant. A strange combination of sensations but they seem to complement each other. A weird little fruit cider that won't appeal to everyone but I dug it.

Box @ The Royal Oak, Shrewsbury. Pours hazy gold. Fruity high-juice aroma. Taste is similarly high-juice with a confident acidity, though no discernible mango presence. Still, fairly fruity all the same with subtle tannins. Decent box cider.
