Description
Preparations for Leidsch Bier started in 2003. Before that, owner / brewer JW Fukkink had been active as an amateur beer brewer since 2000. The official start was a fact with the introduction of Leidsch Blond in April 2004. With the move to own business premises (mid 2010) and obtaining the brew / excise permit (May 2011), there was finally a real beer brewery in Leiden again.

Think I had this at KBC festival, Den Bosch. Dark golden colored beer, small head. Average smell and taste, ok mouthfeel.

Towering light yellow-beige head, quite stable, with textbook lace over hazy orange-amber beer, well-carbonated. Grapey hops, restrained fruitiness (oranges), cake and some spices (clove?). Mild bitterness, no sweetness until a hint in the finish. Bitter orange -cake; long-lasting finish. Carbonation as mineral water. Slick, medium bodied, refreshing. Good original IPA. Very little Belgian character, as I read somewhere.

Nice blond beer. It’s a good brew. I do find it a bit average though. Nothing wrong with the beer.

Tasted @KBC Den Bosch 2011. Was very eager to taste this one, since my regular tasting companion already had tasted this one, and i didn’t. Could use a bit more alcohol to give it some extra body. Still a very nice IPA though.
