Description
When you’re looking for a great beer experience in Suffolk, look no further than the Briarbank Brewing Company. Set just moments from the historic waterfront, in the heart of Ipswich, our award-winning, independent microbrewery and bar was established in May 2013, and we’ve been creating beers ever since.

The craft of beer-making is hard at work at the Briarbank microbrewery. Located in a light and open setting that was once occupied by Lloyds Bank, here you’ll witness our head brewer blending traditional methods with bold new flavours and techniques.

With a two-barrel (BBL) system that’s powered by electricity rather than by gas, we have the capacity to brew over 350 litres – that’s eight casks – at any one time.

Brewing two to three times every week, and with four fermenters on our line, we can produce four different beers at any one time – certainly a unique brewery operation in Ipswich.

Cask ar.Awaking Fest, Gosport. Aroma has a sour edge... that's it. Murky dark brown. Creamy beige head clings to the rim. Light-medium bitter. Sour berries. Malt and caramel. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. It's OK.

Sample, thanks Grumbo. Dark brown, larger beige head, medium lasting. Spicess in the aroma, some cloves, yeast and some biscuits with some cinnamon. Moderate bitterness, quite sharp with spicess. Medium body. Too strong with spicess. Decent.

To begin a very big thank you to Grumbo for this discovery! Beer is above all the pleasure of sharing.

500ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo - cheers Graham!]. Quasi black colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Roasty dark malty aroma with notes of coffee, mocha, dark chocolate and a minimally artificial touch of toffee and milk chocolate. Taste is dry, roasty dark malty, notes of coffee, mocha, some dark chocolate, a touch of dark toffee, moderately bitter and minimally metallic, hoppy overtones; lingering, bitter, roasty finish. Watery texture, dry palate, very fine, soft carbonation. Quite thin, more flavourful in the nose, in return without artificial touch in taste - OK.

500ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham!]. Quasi black colour with small, bubbly, off-white head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of coffee, burnt coffee, some mocha, a touch of rye bread, pumpernickel, grassy, minimally piney, hoppy overtones. Taste is dry, roasty, dark malty, notes of coffee, burnt coffee, a touch of mocha, pumpernickel, ashes, Belgian dark chocolate. Watery texture, dry palate, fine and soft carbonation. Really dry, nice roasty malt flavours, sadly minimally anaemic and a tad too watery - nice.

Ty Grumbo. This is decent citrus forward IPA. It has nice bitterness and really dry grapefruit flavor with good malt backbone. I do get slight acetone in the background, which is annoying. 3.4

Ty Grumbo. Ok pale ale with grapefruit extract, bit too much on the APA side of things and I prefer more natural tasting grapefruit.

Ty grumbo. Haven't had witbier for a minute, but this is a good example. More zesty-citrusy than average wit, which is actually a good thing. Very smooth mouthfeel, kind of creamy even. Good.

Ty grumbo. Instant coffee and chocolate, nice dryness, decent body for abv. Nice hoppiness also. Good stuff. 3.8.

Ty grumbo. Calling it neipa maybe a bit misleading as this one still tastes like a beer, just with some mango puree. No starch, lactose or other nonsense, just good malty and bitter beery profile accompanied by mango. Bit too acidic - the only complaint.
