Description
Saimaa Brewing Company on yksi Suomen vanhimmista yhä toiminnassa olevista pienpanimoista. Juuremme ulottuvat vuoteen 1995, jolloin ravintoloitsija Pertti Oksa aloitti oluenpanon Mikkelissä 200 litran ravintolapanimossa.

Can shared in Bermondsey - many thanks to TBone. Pours cloudy gold with a foamy white head. Doughy wheat bread nose, some zesty lemon. Medium sweet flavor, sugary, more wheat, some bubblegum. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sugary finish, more dough, wheat, some yeast, tangerine. OK.

Can from Timo. Cloudy gold lasting white head. Lemon and wit bier aroma. Good lemon. Ok. Bit malty. But it’s authentic enough. Ok. Good spice. Orange.

Bottled (from Prisma, Vaasa). Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is mild diacetyl, some bready malts, grains, grass and mild herbal notes. Flavour is sweet malts, bready malts, grains, grass, herbs and some slight diacetylic notes. I’m not sure if the diacetyl is intended in this beer (as very few seem to have reacted on it), but it does suit the beer rather nicely. A bit bulky, but with a good twist (much thanks to the diacetylic notes).

Can (from K Citymarket Kivihaka, Vaasa). Hazy muddy deep orange colour, small white fluffy head. Aroma is coriander, some citrus, mild acidic wooden notes as well as some spices. Flavour is citrus, wheat, some mild acidic wood, spices, resin and mild yeasty notes. This one wasn’t too bad, the colour and appearence could be worked on, but otherwise it was quite nice. I could have this one on the terrace in the Summer.

Can (from K Citymarket Kivihaka, Vaasa). Golden colour, not too much head. Aroma is slightly floral, some herbal and mild fruity notes. Flavour is quite similar when cool, but as it warms up, the beer becomes a mess of among others metallic and grainy + earthy notes (in a not too good way). OK when cool, but as it warm it will just be all downhill... from here to the hearse. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Brewer's Classic Blonde Ale on 12 Feb 2023 at 18:02 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 5. Can (from K Citymarket Kivihaka, Vaasa). Can I laugh? Or should I cry? Totally depends on the mood. Golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is grains and hay along with some mild floral and herbal notes. Flavour is very similar, ending in a kind of grassy and mildly metallic thing. Now to answer the laughing or crying... Good choice of hops, but where the hell are the elements from those hops? This brewery’s head brewers should probably go learn how to brew with these hops to get something out from them. Alternatively actually use the hops in proper amounts... Greedy bastards. Anyhow, not the worst beer from them, but at the sametime not worth the money a can costs.

A hazy, dark yellow beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma is strongly spicy, coriander, orange peel and lemon, hint of perfume. Good. Taste is also strongly spicy, coriander, wheat, oranges and orange peel, also sourness of citrusfruits. Quite light bodied, easy to drink as is should be. Great beer, aromatic and spicy witbier that has more character than e.g. Hoegaarden. I will enjoy this beer often in the next summer, the great success.
