Description
In 2013, Crazy Dave's wife told him to 'get a hobby'. He had been making wine and beer since the age of 13 so thought he'd have a go at cider making using fruit from his own trees in Littlewick Green, Berkshire. The next steps: From Crazy Dave's crop of 2013, he made 80 litres and shared it with family and friends which proved to be successful. Crazy Dave's business plan was simple - 'to sell his cider and have his customers returning to buy a second bottle, at some point in the future'. From then to now: Formerly an Operations Director of a large, international civil engineering company, he gave up his job in 2016 to follow his 'passion for apples'. Crazy Dave can now be found making his cider in Holyport, Berkshire (unless he's out collecting apples, on his market stall/delivering to customers etc etc!).

500ml bottle from Scrattings. Slightly hazy pale yellow gold colour, no lasting head and aroma of apple, fruity, some mucky hints. Taste is tart apple, fleshy, citric, a slight marzipan hint, with barnyard funk notes and lingering acidity. Medium bodied, low carbonation, dry finish. Quite drinkable.

Bottle from A Hoppy Place, Windsor. Low key but sweet apple peel aroma. Crystal clear pinky-peach in colour. Very fizzy - the bubbles are hitting me on my nose. No head. Light-medium sour with a not overly sweet streak. Not getting beetroot, perhaps it takes the edge off the apple. Light bodied. Slick if thin. Fizzy carbonation. Dry if abrupt finish.
