Centuries of brewing tradition, the best ingredients and strict compliance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 are quality that you can taste with every sip! The Rittmayer Brewery is one of the oldest breweries in Forchheimer Land. The family business dates back to 1422. The brewery even received its own coat of arms certificate from the Count of Kulmbach because of its good beer.
In spring 2012, our new brewery on the outskirts of Hallerndorf went into operation right next to our filling center. It is one of the most innovative medium-sized breweries in all of Germany.

500ml can from the Costco 2026 Biergarten Collection. Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a khaki head and decent retention. Good lacing. Caramel malt aroma. Caramel malt flavor too, yet very low sweetness. Medium body and medium-light carbonation. Low bitterness.

Bottle at Hops, Crewe. Pours a pale gold. A transient head can be produced with effort, but normally it is minimal, scummy and almost white. Good lacing though. Aroma is an attractive mix of malts, dough and caramel. In the mouth it is sweet on the surface with a tangy texture, but quite a bit of bitterness underneath. Flavour is malts, flowery hops and hints of citrus. Some metallic bitterness later on which lasts into the somewhat dry finish. This is decent.

(Can, 0.5l, from Alko, 20260613) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had y, grain and honey. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, honey, grain and bitterness. Aftertaste had honey, grass and soft bitterness. Clean and good malt forward brew with grassy notes.

Clear golden with a foamy head. Lots of hay, grain, grass, some metal, lard. Metallic bitterness, grainy sweetness. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft to lively carbonated, dry metallic grainy bittersweet finish. An average Helles, not the Rittmayer quality you would expect.

(Draft at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 23 Apr 2026) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty nose with notes of bread, grain, grass and herbs. Malty taste with white bread, grass and a mild herbal bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Soft, fresh and harmonious. Nice one.
