Keg at The Grapes, Oxford, Saturday 13th December 2014. Decent wheat/IPA hybrid. Pours hazy gold/irange with sticky white head. A little scented, this scented floralness shows in mouth. A touch harsh at the back end, finishes dry. Citrus, clean a bit thinner than I would lije but Loz really likes this. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Keg at The Grapes, Oxford, Saturday 13th December 2014. Pours a rich reddy/brown with a sticky slightly off-white head. Soft in mouth, big punchy DIPA, citrussy but with a little lavender. Quite thick in mouth, slips down well for the abv. Really nice. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Pigs Ear. Cask. Clear deep amber beer, few pale tan bubbles. Smooth palate, modest fine carbonation. Light malts. Sweet and bitter citric fruits. Little fresh orange. Touch of floralness. Mild tangerine. Light finish, mild bitter linger.

Cask (Hope Tap JDW, Reading) - Amber in colour. Peach and toffee in the aroma. The taste is moderately hoppy and sweet with notes of peach, sultanas and apricot detected.

Taste of gooseberry fruit skin, grapefruit, some bitter zest, light caramel with some soft roasted malts, dab of twiggy hop in there. A lot of that bitter gooseberry

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. A slightly hazy, pale straw pour with a white head; citrusy aroma; sharp lemongrass taste, bitter and citsusy; with a warming, lasting bitterness to finish. Certainly not enjoyed by the majority of punters in this ’spoons, but I thought it was rather good.

Keg at Lyric, Soho. It pours cloudy orange with a small white head. The nose is fresh lemongrass, lemon sherbet, wood, straw, floral, earth, hay and light chalkiness. The taste is bitter, lightly tart, funky, some acidity, lemon sherbet, must, sharp lime, earth, grass, floral, blue cheese aspect and leafiness with a dry finish. Light-medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Unusual, but interesting stuff. I wasn’t blown away by it, but a nice first sour from these guys. Hopefully more to follow!

Cask at the Alehouse, Reading. Startling hazy yellow colour with a negligible head. From the off there are pungent, aggressive lemon and lime flavours with a strong cut grass flavour following on behind. At first the sheer vibrancy of the flavours is almost offputting, but once I got into it the complex interplay of sweet and sharp, sour and fresh, kept it constantly challenging yet exciting. When I returned to the bar I was astonished to find a large number of people there discussing this beer. The barman confirmed that it was a lemongrass-infused soured wheat beer; rather an unusual style of beer to find on cask in a traditional Berkshire pub! Opinions of the pub’s clientele were divided; it was definitely one of those Marmite love-it-or-hate-it beers. Although sometimes I’m wary of beers with added flavours, for me the lemongrass worked superbly inthis one, I was firmly in the "love it" camp at the bar - I thought this was top-notch.

Half pint, poured from keg at Queens Head. Dotted spots on the glass from a low layer. Unclear mahogany coloured body. Roasted dark chocolate nose. Earth and brown malty flavours followed by a nicely roasted finish. Not diluted. Likable (London 23.09.2014).
