A light amber beer with only a slight head. It has an aroma of fruit as ales often have. The flavor is slightly sour and that of ale. An OK beer.

Rerate 2002: Nice golden orange color, thick lasting foam. Definitely more honey as i probably tasted during my original rate. Also honey taste, sweetness. But also more spicy. Sweet palate, slightly alcoholic perhaps. However, the rating stays the same: 3.7 Original rate: This was good, but a little more honey taste probably could make it better. Cos the honey isn't that dominant. 3.7

[Rerate, Abbaye de Floreffe Brune, 8.0%] Dark amber, brown colour; giant thick head, wonderful lace. Nice aroma, some malt, light roasted malt, sweet.
Very good body, really powerful sensation in the mouth, quite a lot of malt, better balanced than the Triple by the bitterness, by some roasted malt bitterness and by a very light liquorice. Also the final is better than the Triple, anyway it still lacks some aromatic hop.
Pretty good and sweet example of dark abbey ale
[22-07-2002; 8-5-7-3-14] Brown colour; big thick head. Nice aroma of malt, and very nice floral hop. Good malt taste, rather sweet. Ordinary palate, with some nice hop, partially hidden.

Clear deep blond color; big creamy head. Dry mouthfeel, simple, some sweetness at the end. Light malt aroma, a bit spicy. Too simple.

Good malt aroma, a bit corky
Malty, sweet, smooth (the carbonation left the bottle time before, launching the cork till the edge of the garden), corky. The bitterness balances enough the sweetness.
Pretty good example of the style, but it lacks a better hop character, to be really good, being not so complex.

After all those weeks of German ’quality’, I was finally back to my favorite place of drinking beers: Kafe Belgie in Utrecht, Netherlands. And what did they have on tap: yess. The Floreffe Meilleure. Outstanding black color, cloudy and with a beautiful head. Chocolate and malts are the main ingredients of the perfume of this beer. Taste does remind me of a Rochefort, i’m gonna get one today i guess! Still it’s easy to drink and the mild well-balanced palate is a pleasure.

Beautiful black color, with a perfect head. Typical double beer, with sweet perfume and same flavor. Some malts are also present. I haven't smelled or tasted the anise. Curious about that. So maybe soon a rerate :-)

Clear blond wheat ale, with a persistent perlage. Dry aroma, of spices, coriander, lemon, peach (light), alcohol, champagne. Smooth, with a residual sweetness; not very strong 'wheat beer' character, but pleasant and well balanced flavors, with some malt. Dry finish, quite poor.

Blond ale, ordinary head. Nice hop aroma, with honey notes (maybe it's an old bottle), a bit fruity. Pretty nice malt taste, some sweetness, some niche hop notes. Palate not outstanding. Simple ale.
