Made with every kind of love. Hoppy. Sour. Juicy. Dark. Malted. Zesty. And barrel-aged.
You’re here because you love craft. And we’re here because we love to craft. Every day, we brew beer the way it was meant to be made, full of heart from grain to glass. Independent since day one, our team in Marshall, MI, brings the best out of every ingredient — from the grain and hops to the barrels we use to age our sours — because the easiest thing to taste is imperfection. Enjoy a brew at our beer garden in Marshall or find us across Michigan and Ohio on tap and on shelves.

Look is clear slightly darker than pale. Nice half inch foamy head. Nose is typical open fermented beer with a tad of sweetness on the olfactory. Yea, taste is slightly tart but there is this 'ice cream' flavor about it. Some vanilla is poking its head out. Then along comes some orange push up in there. Remember the orange push-ups as a kid from the goodie bar truck? No hint of rude ale in this stuff, that's the thing with these real open fermented beers, they are never really bitter rude, and I like that. Yes, this is a relatively smooth and easy drinken brew, and besides; I like a little tartness in my beer. Pretty good finish, just wish it had a little more co2 in there, could use some cutting carbonation on the palate.

Can. Pours a thick dark brown with a thin head and aromas of maple syrup, cream, bourbon, and chocolate. Flavor has a blast of roasted malt up front that hits you with a coffee grounds, chocolate, and charcoal punch to the palate. Finish is smooth cream and maple with a little bit of abv and bourbon. Kinda nice beer, Roak!

Pour from a can is big and black but the head fades instantly. Nose is volatile malt. Whew, first taste is alky laced stout, very strong and flat. Difficult. Warming sensations all round. Seems like a much higher alky content than 8% fer sher. Coffee and dark bitter chocolate, coffee is subdued but the bitter baking chocolate is up front and in yer face. Halfway thru I think I'm catching a little buzz off this stuff. In the middle its beefy and mouth coating. Such a big brew. Just wish it had some co2 to make it a little more tolerable on the palate. Finish is large and in charge. Whew, quite a smack in the jaw. Big kick for only a couple of bucks.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a deep brown with a quickly dissipating brown head. No lacing to speak of. Peanut butter on the nose with cacao nib aromas, but the palate is where the wheels fall off. Over-roasted malt acrid notes with extreme bitterness...beyond cacao nib bitterness. Lingering scratchy bitterness and chalk-like texture on the palate. Super thin. Not good.

Pours a clear golden with a huge white head. Aroma of sweet grapefruit, guava, lemon. Taste has resinous oak notes, some more citrus, Palate has more pine resin, some lingering oil in the mouth. Solid.
