$1.29 for a single 12-oz. Black--- small tan head. Nothing special here, but it is black. Slightly coffee in the nose, but not much. Tastes a bit like cold coffee with milk. Nothing out of the ordinary, but not bad either. In fact, kinda tasty. A decent brew- not a ton of originality here, but not bad.

Paid $1.19 for a 12-oz single. Nice orange/copper in color... tiny head. Slightly sweet and citrusy in the nose- nice, but nothing special. Very plain and bland in flavor/taste. Not bad, but it lacks a defined anything in here. A little hoppiness, but it kinda tastes like drinking flavorless pop. It does feel nice in my mouth. Nice carbonation. Without a doubt drinkable, but it's so lacking of any flavor, I can't see why you'd want to.

This is the best offering that I've tasted from Left Hand to date. Pours out a beautiful black with a long lasting head that gives off aromas of chocolate and roast malt. Hops are well balanced in the flavor profile and it gives no impression of it's alcoholic strength on the tongue. Gets better as it warms. A very good Stout.

Dark copper color with a medium thin beige head. Minimal lacing. There is a fair amount of sweet malt and caramel in the aroma. Medium bodied and it has a crisp side too. Sweet malt flavor dominates yet there is a faint sourness and bitterness every once in awhile. Kind of a Jekyll & Hyde thing. The finish is clean and sweet. Overall this is an average Marzen.

Grandma's Spice cake here as a beer! Ginger. It wants just a little more body to balance some of the spiciness, but it's a pleasurable kind of beer to have one or two of during the winter months. This one is a little more different than most and worth a try.

Black color, with creamy head. Very mild aroma, some alcohol, light roasted malts. Good body strength, with round mouthfeel; very good flavor of roasted malts and dark chocolate, with strong bitterness and warming alcohol; some late liquorice too, and light salty feeling.
Excellent flavor, not so much the aroma.

Dark brown color. Some aroma of roasted malt. Good body strength, with a good mix of caramel, roasted malt and coffee, with a light liquorice touch. Warming alcohol.

Banana bread nose, with a thick head. Hazy brown robe. Nice caramel malts flavour but the spice and bananas are rather light, and come out near the end. Not as intense as their german counterpart.

And so the day began at thedm's Fort Wayne tasting. Hey, a wax-topped bottle! Pretty impressive. The beer wasn't so bad itself. Poured golden-amber, with a sparkling off-white/light tan head. Floral, spicy hops aroma, with some caramel and bread. Rather light flavor for a barleywine, with some caramel flavors, spicy hops, and sweeter fruit as the beer warmed. Rather thin-bodied, with alcohol evident in the aftertaste. A rather unique barleywine, although certainly not in the top echelon.

Dark brown in colour with ruby highlights and a thin light tan head. Subtle roasted malt aroma with a bit of sour milk. Medium to Light-bodied; Decent roasty malt flavour with a strong presence of sour milk. Aftertaste shows some milk as well as some malt, but isn't entirely pleasant. Overall, decent, not really good, but alright to try. I had this pint on draught at Barley's in Knoxville, Tennessee on 27-September-2003.

22oz Bottle: Pours a nearly black color that kind of reminded me of a Porter the way a little light was let in. Thick beige head that did not last too long. Thin lacing. The aroma consists of sweet malt and caramel but with a strong roasted coffee presence as well. Full-bodied with a nice blend of coffee, chocolate, toffee and malt flavors. Alcohol is not very evident in the flavor. The finish is rich and satisfying and has some hops to it. This is a solid Imperial.
