On tap at the only restaurant I could find in Harvre St Pierre. Reddish copper color. Bready sweet caramel maltiness, little to no hops. Not horrible.

Draught @ Outback Steakhouse, Niagara Falls, ON
Pours clear amber with a small off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel and hint of grass. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with a long caramel finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Summer 2015 trend... the Radler (which I don’t mind as a refresher). Looks like lemonade, hazy pear colour with a creamy white cap, decent retention and some light lace. The grapefruit and lemon juice nose is well-balanced. Sourness is present, but not so much in the taste. Starts off a little more on the lemon juice (less grapefruit) and ends with the beer grain lingering. No sugar added in this one, it seems from the ingredients. If so, congrats ! A little higher alcohol content than most tried so far. I like.

On tap. A clear amber colored beer topped by a dense, light beige head. The aroma has a light touch of bread, caramel and some nuts and dried fruits. It’s rather thin on the palate, with a soft carbonation, dry. Not much bitterness or sweetness going on, but at least there’s some caramel and nuts. Short finish. Quite forgettable this one. 150613

The second in my lineup of Stanley cup final malt liquors is a massive molson can. Oooh, 6.1% alcohol!! You mean, like, a lot less than your average craft IPA? Do you dare, Molson’s, to try something to so complex?? Has decent head at least and well carbonated yellow body. Aroma is wet hops and cardboard. Flavour is murky malts with just a hint of fusel alcohol. Slightly watery finish. This is bad but comes off as a godsend after that Coors Altitude crap - it just reminded me how really bad it is.

I bought a four-pack of this for the good ol’ hockey game on tonight... didn’t want to think too hard about all the other craft beers at the Edmonton liquor store and knew I hadn’t tried the "altitude" version of Coors so here I am, with 4 cans of these twist-off thingies for the second period of Chicago-Tampa. If you pour it aggressively you get a bit of head but not nearly enough. Aroma of weak hops and a hint of fusel alcohol. Flavour is all fusel alcohol. Oh, this wasn’t a good choice.
