Description
Formed in 2009 as Mitchell Krause Brewing Ltd, the beers were initially contract brewed at Hepworth, Bitter End and Hardknott. In Spring 2013 they opened their own brewery at the current location and renamed it in late 2014 inTractor Shed.

Pours a deep dark brown colour with a reddish tint and a small beige head. The aroma is roasted malts and chocolate with some charred grain notes. A dry in the mouth roasted taste, roasted malts, bitter chocolate and a dry burnt grain bitterness in the finish.

Cask: Poured a copper orange with white head. Aroma is malty, toffee. Taste is coconut, toffee, malty.

Cask in Derby. A clear amber brown coloured pour with lasting beige head. Aroma is vanilla, raw oak, custard, grass. Flavour is composed of creme caramel, vanilla, raw wood. Palate is semi sweet, raw oak, moderate carbonation.. Bit raw.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. Malts and chocolate can be found in the aroma – provided you search for them ! A little watery in the mouth, but otherwise sweet and fruity with chocolate, dark fruits and plums, all on a malty base. There’s also some smokiness and a few hops hanging around. Finish is fairly dry. A decent enough stout without setting the world alight.

500ml bottle from Tebay Services, following a mtb trip to Innerleithen, shared with haddock. Pours a clear golden yellow with good white foam. Pleasant lagery whiff prior to first sip which produces a good malty helles sweetness, crisp and gently bitter. Soft grain. Really enjoyable Cumbrian lager.

Sunday 26th September 2021. The quest goes on tasting with Mat in Chez Sophie. 500ml bottle between us. Clean and clear golden body, decent white head. Refreshing enough, slight grainy undertones in the nose and taste.

Bottle from Beer Ambleside. Appearance - amber rather than blonde. White head. Lively on opening. Nose - brien bread, a hint of apple. Taste - biscuits and light orange. Palate - light bodied, dryish. Overall - ok.

27/6/2020. Bottle from Beer Cockermouth (beergb.com), and shared with the SHIG at the Cumbrian 20 bottle share. Pours clear almost black with a bubbly/frothy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, ash and blackberry. Moderate sweetness and medium roasted bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Roasted, fruity, slightly earthy finish.
