Nice stuff. Subtle. Easy drinking. Light hoppiness, light malty slickness. Good stuff

On tap at Popeye, pours a cloudy yellow with a medium white head. Aroma brings out pungent rhubarb upfront, with light saline and some wheaty notes. Flavour is bright and earthy, with lots of earthy rhubarb, juicy citrus, light salt, and a touch of lacto. Bright, rhubarby and earthy. Very nicely done.

The nose shows intense notes of mango and guava with light apricot.

The palate is well carbonated and full bodied. Carbonation is balanced. Moderately guava forward with a balanced adzuki malt backbone and a balanced bitterness with some light guava and astringency on the finish.

The palate is well carbonated and medium bodied. Moderately intense notes of pineapple and light guava with a balanced adzuki malt backbone followed by a moderately intense but balanced sharp pine bitterness on the finish.

Tap at Komachi. Hazy brilliant pastel yellow. Big hop nose of papaya, grapefruit, mango. Fruity and bright flavor, not too malty or sweet, finishes dry and crisp. Good one.

Tap at Komachi. almost clear, more amber brown than red. Citrus hop nose, light caramel, toast. A big of sweet caramel in the flavor, some resin, citrus. A slightly strong amber ale. Not bad but not really exciting.

Ise Kadoya x Dandelion Chocolate Brownie Stout 9% Made with cocoa beans from Maya Mountain, Belize This was 1-1200¥ so quite pricey but if it’s made with single estate chocolate then I’m not too surprised. It’s got a thick viscous motor oil black pour with a wispy tan head of foam. The aroma to me is similar to that winter savory beer with a sort of smoky mole thing going on. It’s got a nice lush full body with a scratchy carbonation. The taste is dark chocolate syrup with a bit mole chocolate paste in the finish. There’s a touch of boozy heat. It’s nicely balanced with an earthy complexity. The arms wasn’t really my thing but I’m digging the taste. I couldn’t find a brownie so I paired it with a Gateau Chocolat Black Thunder from Lawson’s. The beer evoked savory from the chocolate while the chocolate drew out a sharp chocolate syrup element from the beer. Pretty fun though at that price I don’t think I’d get it every year unless thered some kind of variation such as different cacao beans.

My son Ben went to Hong Kong late last year and brought me back three beers, all Japanese, this 350ml can was one of them. So, a Japanese NEIPA. Why label a beer under 'ISEKADO' if your brewery is called Ise Kadoya? Doesn't help finding it on our data base. I actually thought this was fine, hazy orange with a white head. Fruity with a citrus front.

Ise Kadoya Kraft Lager 5% The label says it is a Munich type German lager. It’s a matte gold with soapy white foam and has a spicy herbal hop bouquet over a dusty grainy malt base. Medium bodied and quite crisp and dry. I got it on sale and you can see it’s a bit past it’s peak but still pretty damn good. I wonder what this was like fresh?
