Big bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Shared with Skinnyviking. Dense, tan coloured head over a devil-black body. Nice glass-lacing. Dark malty aroma with notably alcohol. Anise and chocolate can be detected, but the delicate flavour is partial run over by alcohol. Bitter endnotes. Full bodied (Valby, 10.09.2008)

Bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Complex and comprehensive ale which was a real pleasure to drink. Hazy, dark orange body supported by a thin, creamy head. Fruity smell containing watermelon and peaches with alcohol beneath. Sappy, bitter fruits in flavour leading to a lingering, hop bitter ending still with a warming touch alcohol. Soft palate, but full bodied and very well balanced (shared with Skinnyviking, 10.09.2008)

@ Michigan Beerfest-on tap-pours a foamy light tan head and amber/copper color. Aroma is resin/some lemon hops, secondary medium malt. Taste is resin/some lemon hops-some bitter, secondary medium malt backbone. Nice.

Pitch black with a lasting light brown head. Aroma has roast malt, dark chocolate and rich dark dried fruits. The medium sweet flavour is roasted and fruity with chocolate and licorice notes. Just slightly cloying. After a night with 13 more or less weird, although all interesting, Shorts Imperial beers, it was reassuring to find out in the end, that malt, hops and yeast still are the finest ingredients to make great beer.

Black with a small off-white head. Licorice and roast malt aroma. Dry and smooth roasted flavour. It has a peculiar refreshing fruity quality, but nothing I’d have picked as cherry in a blind tasting. Very pleasant beer.

Black with red highlights, and a lasting light brown head. Aroma is sweet licorice and chocolate. Extremely cloying flavour of sweet licorice candy and sweet milk chocolate.

Muddy amber beer with a small white head. Aroma is dominated by celery, with celery-like herbal notes, a little pepper and more celery. Flavour is spicy and herbal, but any beer characteristics are lost in celery.

Dark golden with a lasting white head. Aroma is interesting enough, bordering oddness: Forest shrubbery, spruce, medicine and peppermint. Flavour is bitter in an unpleasant way, and the spruce tends to turn into turpentine. Hoppy beer with spruce? Interesting. A ton of spruce? No subtleties left.

Cloudy red amber with a lasting off-white head. Aroma dominated by apricot hops, with spice and alcohol mixed in. Sweet and fruity flavour, with herbal, grass, apricot notes. Good hop bitterness, yet the sweetness gets cloying.

Ruby brown beer with a small white head. Aroma has malt, walnuts and fine vintage port. Sweet with syrup, nut, and port flavours, nice vineous alcohol causing a drying finish
