Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. My first beer of this JDW festival, and a rather disappointing start. A pale amber pour with a thin white head; caramel aroma; and a fresh floral taste with a watery body and some light grassy hops; then a dry finish. There’s no immediate connection to me between this beer and Bruges.

Tried at Felix Holt (JDW), Nuneaton. Amber colour with white head. Aroma toffee, spice, and fruit. Mid bitter taste.

Cask @ Abel Heywood, Manchester. Golden-blonde with a creamy head. A little skunky with its nose, but not much as it’s not high in aromas, just malts. It has a crisp enough, light tasting texture with a medium bitterness.

Cask @ Abel Heywood, Manchester. Copper with a thick creamy-smooth head. Bitter in character with a malty influence. Relatively smooth tasting with hints of grain and chocolate malt.
