Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. My first beer of this JDW festival, and a rather disappointing start. A pale amber pour with a thin white head; caramel aroma; and a fresh floral taste with a watery body and some light grassy hops; then a dry finish. There’s no immediate connection to me between this beer and Bruges.

Cask @ Abel Heywood, Manchester. Golden-blonde with a thin head. Hopped, but with a slightly dirty aroma and to a lesser extent taste, where there’s a fair maltiness evident.

Cask @ Abel Heywood, Manchester. Golden-blonde with a creamy head. A little skunky with its nose, but not much as it’s not high in aromas, just malts. It has a crisp enough, light tasting texture with a medium bitterness.
