Description
In 1865, William Moorhouse, a local Burnley lad, founded the brewery. He took great pride in his home town and his craft, originally producing mineral waters. In 1870, he built his own brewery, producing renowned beers, including his low alcohol Hop Bitters for the temperance bars across the North West.

Rejuvenation
Hard times hit in 1985 and Bill Parkinson, a local man passionate about beer, was sipping a pint of Pendle Witches Brew one day, when he heard of the plight of the brewery. He bought it, invested in a new brew plant and the rest is history. With many twists and turns along the way, we have embraced the traditions, values and entrepreneurial spirit of our founder ready for exciting times ahead.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2023. Amber in colour with a slight, off-white, head. An easy drinking, malt-forward, beer, with a touch of hedgerow fruits, nutty edge, and moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask at the moon under water Watford Jdw. A clear amber coloured pour with a lasting magnolia head. Aroma is nutty malts rusty penny, tobacco,. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, layered malts, nutty, pine tobacco. Palate is semi sweet rounded, mellow cask condition.

Cask @ Barum Top Inn, Halifax. Darker clear golden with a creamy-frothy head. Pleasant in the palate with some malty-bitterness in aroma, it's its caramels that provide a fine taste and smoothness.

Cask (gravity) at Standing Order, Derby. Pours bitter brown with minimal off-white head. Not much of an aroma – just vague hints of malts and dark fruits. It the mouth it is sweet and flat with flavours of caramel, malts andautumn fruits. The finish is very sweet – almost cloying. It’s OK but too sweet for my liking.

Colne Beer Festival 2023. Golden in colour. Hoppy, mildly sweet with some depth to its texture.
